I would say anyone who pays money into this site and helps put on events and buys the t-shirts or helps this "group" out in a monetary manner is a MEMBER! I have always considered myself a member and I agree with Mark's statement. I have no problem with SCCC peeps joining us, but when it comes to long time members not being able to participate because other people who are MEMBERS of another group have taken all the spots to come to an event that has become our FLAGSHIP of EVENTS for the ACE "GROUP" I have issue. Sorry, but I do! Right, wrong or indifferent, that is how I feel. If we want to piss off the people who have been involved in ACE for the past 4 years as some of us have, then I would strongly suggest we make sure the people taking their places when they leave are worth it. That all being said, I can stop and pick up anything more we may need. Mark will be bringing about 25 to 35 packages of Scrumpdelicious Holsum Buns!!!! And about two gallons of my homemade salsa. I promise not to make it too hot for you white peeps! lolI would just hope that the people coming from another group do intend to contribute in some way and not come take advantage of our generosity and leave the people who have contributed to ACE all these years out in the cold. Plain and simple. There has to be a balance. I have frequented a few Scottsdale Exotic Car CLub Events and they welcome us with open arms here from ACE, but in the end, I contribute to everything I do with them because it is only right and I don't want to take away from any of the people who have been involved with SECC for so long. If anyone was "excluded" it wasn't because of a new person taking their place. It was because for whatever reason they didn't notice the sign-up or forgot to sign-up. I don't think Dwayne would exclude anyone from showing up. He just has to set a limit for preparation sake. He only has so much time to prepare and if folks are signing up the week before it puts him in a bad position. He's trying to be a good host and not run out of supplies either. I believe ACE was founded on the principle that we will accept anyone that loves Corvettes. We have members who don't currently own a Vette but they still love them. That said, I think we have exploded the membership in the last few months and we are possibly feeling some growing pains because of that. I would just ask that if you have interested folks that love Corvettes that you encourage them to attend events, join the forum, come to the monthly lunch, etc. If they decide this group isn't what they are looking for then so be it. I'm not going to be hurt of they don't become active. At least they've been exposed and made their own decision. This group hopefully will never force itself on anyone. We won't care if you show up once a year or to every event. We don't care if you prefer one of the organized clubs over ACE. We have members who do both ACE and the club thing. That is your choice. Like Mike said earlier I thrilled about the idea of 60+ Vettes going down the highway together. I'm looking forward to meeting alot of you Newbies! Let's all have a great time at the BBQ.
