If it's not one thing, it's another.

Just think of how much beer and booze you can buy and still not come close to what labor would have cost. :)

Only used the flywheel tool once when the motor was out of the car to torque the bolt. Otherwise just throw it in 4th, jam the ebrake on and that will prevent the motor from spinning.

been there done that on the C5.

the Tork Tube rubber grommets had just enough give/flex that it was hard getting an accurate reading on 140* turn on the bolt (the stretch ).

plus the 'spring-enyess' or bounce throws me off.

I have stripped and cross threaded bolts in a block before. I use the resistance feed back to tell me is something is wrong.

My personal choice is to use the Flywheel tool.

Ill add it to my odd tool collections and do the job right.

For thoes that dont know we are talking aobut the LS flywheel holding tool.

It replaces the starter (when you can get the som-a-bitch out) so you can lock the engine in place.

Yah I have the tool now, along with the crank pulley install tool, but for getting the bolt off I've never had an issue with using the drivetrain. Then again I have solid couplers in my TT. Was just throwing out an option in case you didn't have the tool.

I could give you directions but it would involve driving to an airport, Cabellas, some community out on Bell rd, and a Jack-In-The-Box among other things. Hardest house to find I've ever been to.
