I think I 'm in. I'll probably be up at my place at strawberry but would drive down just for the escort.

The road off of Highway 260 is dirt/gravel, well maintained and only 1/8th of a mile long.

I have no idea if the parkinglot is dirt, or paved.

Do a Google map search and look for yourself.

R Bar C Ranch Boy Scouts, Payson, AZ (928) 478-4500

I have not been there, so I have no other details.

Rob

I understand you haven't been there, but can't the folks who have organized this camp for the kids and requested ACE involvement give you some information?

It is important to have safe, Corvette friendly parking that will accomodate the number of cars participating. . .

Donna, I have called the phone number I posted for the camp to ask about the parking lot. They have not returned my calls. I also called Barb, the Director (friend of mine) and asked her to follow up and let me know. If this is a show stopper for some of you, I noticed that there is a church a mile up the road on the Christopher Creek bypass (Old Hwy 260) that has a nice parking lot. I can check to see if we can do a meet and greet there if the parking lot does not work for all. Rob.

ACE Holes Here is the response I got from Barb regarding the parking at the camp Rob, I got your voice mail. The parking lot is quite large and can easily accommodate 20-30 cars. It is covered with 1-2 in rock (gravel hard packed). Let me see if I have the details right... 1)30 car limit at the destination where we can interaqct with the kids. 2) overflow parking in christopher creek. No interaction (?) 3) no rides for the kids at the camp? 4)escort camp busses. (No rides?) 5) at the camp, mini car show for the kids. Did I miss anything? Great cause, thanks for putting this together.

Let me see if I have the details right...

1)30 car limit at the destination where we can interaqct with the kids. (There was no mention of a 30 car limit. Barb said it could easly accomodate 20 to 30 cars)

2) overflow parking in christopher creek. No interaction (?) (What overflow parking? I only suggested an altenate if this was a show stopper for some)

3) no rides for the kids at the camp? (Rides would be a logistcal and insurance nightmare for the drivers and the parents to get consent letters signed, this was mearly a suggestion by an ACE hole)

4)escort camp busses. (No rides?) (If you read the original post, it says nothing about rides, simply a bunch of corvettes escorting a couple of busses of kids to camp)

5) at the camp, mini car show for the kids. (Yes, this is what it is all about, the Kids)

I thought this was pretty straight forward, Please let me know if there are any other details I can help you with, I am sure Barb will be more than happy to accomodate them.

Did I miss anything? Great cause, thanks for putting this together.

Thanks for doing this Rob, this thing has spun into "but it could be so much more" territory. Let's keep it simple and what it was originally requested to be: Take a drive, hang out with some awesome kids! :thumbs

I haven't been to any events for awhile but this is for a good cause so I will put this on the calender. Any idea as to how many kids? I heard some great ideas on the board about doing something extra such as rides and t-shirts. I will start collecting some matchbox/hotwheels vettes for the kids so they can have their little vettes. Thx, Ray

I do not know how many kids, Ill call Brb and ask her. I donot think the camp will allow rides due to liability issues. Just being there and having a bunch of cool cars will be great for the kids. I'll let ya knw what BArb has to say on the numbers. Rob

If we are in town we will attend...at this point looks good for Susie and I. :thumbs We used to do a Christmas ride with my HD group to an abused childrens home in CA. Somehow they got around the liability issue and we were able to give them rides around the facility on our bikes. They so looked forward to our being there every year. :yesnod Would be happy to throw some money into the pot for T shirts if that decision is approved.
