Drag Racing - Speedworld - Nov. 20th - Club event

I talked with Speedworld today and they have a "Club day" coming up on Sunday November 20th. It's only open to registered clubs like the F-Body, Grand National, Mustang clubs and not open to general public.

They said we can do bracket racing, heads up, best reaction time, all sorts of different ways we can plan it. We get our own lane and sounds like a way to get A LOT of runs in for one day.

It's $20 to race, $10 to spectate and they will have full concessions and safety crew at the event.

I will run my 1980 in bracket races against anyone out there.

Any takers??

Gates open at 9:00 a.m. Try and get there close to 9:00 a.m. as possible.

You will have to go through tech inspection and racing starts at 10 a.m.

I would like everyone to be there before 9:30. I have to give them a list of who is driving in what car (and car numbers, which you get at tech) by 9:45.

They will set us up a lane for our club. We will then do probably 3 runs to find out what times the cars are running. From there the track will set us up in "qualifying order" for bracket racing. After we do the bracket racing then we have open track for the rest of the day as long as we want.

They have concessions there so bring cash for breakfast and lunch. Don't forget a helmet and proper clothes.

Sounds like fun, I will check with the boss's calendar tomorrow to make sure she doesn't have other plans. But for now count me in... :thumbs

I need some "Yes, I guarantee I will be there" replies. Need 10 to make this worth while.

So far I have 2 and a "I need to ask permission".

I need at least 8 more. 20 more would be really nice.

I am about 90% sure I can make it. I really like speedworld much more than Firebird. :) I know of one or two others that might go. Do they have to be Corvettes?

To be with our club they would have to be Corvettes. If you look in the events section there is another group that is looking for GM cars to compete in their club event.

I could use a day to legally blow off some steam. However with school, you'll have to put me down as a maybe. But am certainly interested. It's the weekend before Thanksgiving, so it looks promising at this point.

Sorry - it must be a Corvette for this one.

Also, this is a SUNDAY event, not Saturday.

It would be really kick ass to get over 16 people so we could do a full elimination style race. 3 - 4 practice runs then run a elimination bracket, maybe do a double elimination style. Depends on how many we can get.

Last I read, Jim is still down with tranny problems, I haven't talked to him to find out why he hasn't put in the new tranny yet.
