I like that Gurnade one, which shouldn't suprise anyone, since I think teh 2007 car is teh best paint scheme they've used so far...

:Jake: Three blurbs for wasting valuable work time:

For those that missed teh race, first we have a 'new' secret weapon, Pratt & Millers rear view radar camera, and then teh Tommy Milners race recap blog.

Lastly, teh Larbre vettes got a new driver for teh 24, Cooper MacNeil.

Since Marc thinks they'll kick Mags to the curb soon, maybe they'll groom this kid to fill Jan's shoes...?

I really hope I'm wrong, Mags is one of my heroes! I just thinks teh CR will do to him teh same as they did to Johnny O... What will hurt teh worst, is if they do, and he goes to BMW, or someone else in GT, especially if he starts winning...

LE MANS: Porsche Unveils New 911 RSR

All-new car to race in this year's FIA World Endurance Championship...

Following months of development and hundreds of hours of on-track testing, Porsche took the wraps off its 911 RSR Thursday at Paul Ricard, the all-new GTE car that will propel the German manufacturer’s factory assault in this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship.

While essentially featuring the same 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine that powered the previous-generation 997 model to numerous wins and championships worldwide, Porsche’s new 991-based contender is considered to be quite an overhaul compared to its predecessor.

The 911 RSR, based on the road-going Carrera 4 model, features a 10 cm longer wheelbase, new double wishbone front suspension and a centrally located radiator, instead of the previous three on the 997.

Significant updates have been made on the aerodynamic side, as well as weight reduction, which has seen an improved weight distribution. As a result of the wheelbase change, a new lightweight six-speed paddle shift transmission has also been developed.

"It's a new car compared to the 997," Hartmut Kristen, Head of Porsche Motorsport, told SPEED.com. "Everything that is related to the chassis and aerodynamics have been changed.

“One thing that is very important for us in regards to this car is the longer wheelbase of the 991. One of the disadvantages we've had, and still have to a degree with the rear-mounted engine, is that we have too much weight in the rear. That was one of our main focus points, was to get as much weight up front as we could."

Porsche’s 911 RSR is the third all-new GTE/2-spec race car since 1999 when it rolled out the 996-based model, followed by the 997 in 2004, both of which debuted in the hands of Manthey Racing.

The famed endurance racing specialist, a multi-time winner of the Nurburgring 24, will again lead efforts as team manager of the 911 RSR program, which is being run under the Porsche AG Team Manthey banner. It marks Porsche’s first full-factory program to contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 1998.

"One of the main reasons for this factory program was the 50th anniversary of the 911,” Kristen said. “It's something that's very important for Porsche; The 911 is the core of the brand. It's obviously very successful in motor racing. With the decision to increase the factory motorsport efforts in regards to 2014 and LMP1, that was a natural step.”

Two cars will be run for the entire eight-round WEC season, beginning with next month’s Six Hours of Silverstone. Joerg Bergmeister and Patrick Pilet will pilot the No. 91 entry, with the No. 92 Porsche to be driven by Marc Lieb and Richard Lietz. Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard will complete the lineups for the first three races of the season.

The 911 RSR will make its first official on-track debut tomorrow and Friday during the WEC pre-season test at Paul Ricard.

And not one mention of Patrick Long. :banannarainbow:

Out of all my weekend reading, this news that Grand-Am signed on with DTM has me thinking wtf. Maybe they'll get Caddy to play along, and they better, because I don't imagine US fans will be all that interested in the Audi v. BMW v. Mercedes sedan battle royales. I could be wrong, after all Dawg admits he watches Australian V8 racing already...

Teh Austrialian V8 super car racing is still GM vs Ferd, although in 4 door sedans. It's still fun to watch them trade paint almost like NASCAR but without the glitz. I also admitted to watching teh German touring car racing which is teh beeners, teh merc's and teh audies banging teh crap out of each other... I think teh fun is watching teh bangin going on, its different than teh pron bangin fer sure!

I knew you'd like that! :Jake:

Since the forum is back to NOT allowing me to post articles freely, here's your linky to read about GM now fretting about racing budgets and the Grand-Am/ALMS merger.

My question is: What happens to teh drivers that drive in both series, like Mags, OG, Westrbrook, Taylor, Garcia.... I also want to know what happens to John Hindaugh and Jeremy Shaw as commentators-they blow away teh G/A peeps...

Here's a prediction..... If Mags doesn't turn his luck around soon, my thinking is that he ends up sitting in a DP car next season, not GT. If Cooper MacNeil shines at LeMans for Larbre, he may end up working for CR as a third driver.... I thinks teh winds of change are about to blow.... :yesnod

Don't go too far out on that limb... :lol

I'd be more impressed with something like Westbrook and Garcia both get pink slips, CR hires MÜcke and Bleekemolen, and trades Mags straight up for Joey Hand. Patrick Long is demoted to mounting tires for Falken, and Wolf Henzler kicks his ass for looking at him cross-eyed. :Jake:

Anyway, here's some info on teh DTM deal.

Garcia, I could take or leave, but Westie has done pretty well for teh 3rd guy slot. I like teh idea of Bleekemolen though!
