Afternoon was mandatory navigator training, drivers' meeting and starting grid assignments...

This was followed by final car prep, then exhaustion and early bedtime with insomnia...:ack:

Today started with a 6:00 am caravan to the starting grid 60 miles away. Staged two wide on the highway, then final cabin check and cars launched at 1-minute intervals.

At the south finish for the first leg, turn around and stage in the same grid order.

No accidents or incidents.  Two cars had mechanical issues that delayed us for about an hour, but everything went smooth.

The driving was fun, I did get to cruise at 115 for about 15 minutes straight. The Narrows are a blast.

Timing with just a stopwatch and mental math with the mile markers coming by every 34 seconds is challenging.

I think we came in a few seconds slow, but we don't have official results yet.

We tried, the GoPro appeared to stop working on the Northbound (second) leg.

Hopefully we have some video from the starting line and going through the narrows southbound. We won't know till we get home on Wednesday night.

If we've got anything worth looking at, I will definitely post it up here.

It certainly sounds like you had a whole lot of fun. :thumbs

Not returning until Wednesday?? We were hoping to hear a whole experience replay at the Tuesday Geezer lunch.

Returning Wednesday night late.  See you on the 30th.

Tomorrow, ask Howard for updates and a pic, one of his Mopar friends (Michael) was the 2nd car ahead of me in the grid.

Were Burt Reynolds and Dom Deluise there with their ambulance?

There was an ambulance but it was parked, not competing... :lol

Video posted. . .

Southbound from Lund, NV through "The Narrows" the most technical portion of the course.

Rookie car, restricted to the "Touring Division" 105/124 mph.

Speeds in this video range from 92-110 mph.

Just like driving to the grocery store. . . :smilelol

It was, but NOT fast enough. :smilelol

The entire event, which spanned 4 days total, was exhausting but very enjoyable.

Great group of racers involved in this event - like a family, like ACE used to be years ago.

Planning to go back next year, moving up in Division to a higher speed class.

I would go in September for SSCC, but I have a prior commitment to @aenigma. . .:burnout

The narrows didn't look that narrow but when you're going 100+, I guess it might just be. Also, your windshield was dirty!

Yes, speed does shrink the road. . .you should come out with your ZR1 and try it.

97 vehicles in this event, 34 were Corvettes.

The windshield was clean when I left the hotel.  You are seeing 90 miles worth of high-velocity impact bug guts. :lol

Greg. Better hurry up. Diaper time is coming at some point. 😂

Donna that was fabulous. Gave me a rush and anxiety all at once watching it. I wish I had the ability to maintain those speeds without losing my sheet, you did amazing! I have been dying to see the video.

Dude, "someday" never comes.

Right now, this instant, is the youngest you are ever going to be.

None of us knows how much time we have.

Ya gotta live before ya die.

Do the things you dream about.

Seriously.  Just do it. :thumbs
