Probable Cause

Why not put a sandwich baggie over each mirror when you wash the car, then when done do the mirrors with a damp cloth. Why not put a sandwich baggie over each mirror when you wash the car, then when done do the mirrors with a damp cloth.

Does the drip come from the mirror housing or the base?

I thought the covers only covered the mirror...

The drip comes from water that collects in the base. Get a tube or two of silicone and fill the base with it.

I know it drips from the base but if the water collects there then the mirror covers Joe linked to are useless right?

For those that twist their mirrors, as I recall you also run the risk of popping the spring inside, and get the dreaded dangly mirror.

Tom, so that is just a hole drilled thru the door at the bottom of the base?

Remove the mirror and it'll be obvious.

The same with taillights. When you take them out, you'll see the dried up dirt pool. Drill a hole in the center of that and forget drips forever. I used a 1/8" drill. The water drains out on the ground.

You really don't need to soak your car to wash it. Wipe the thing down with a wet microfiber cloth instead of spraying it with a hose. No more drips.

Danny's doesn't work that way and my car gets too dirty to just wipe off.
