coconut girl
Sorry we missed you guys. We waited at the junction from 10:30am to 11:20am. Got tired of waiting so we took off. Thought we would run into you but it was not to be. Not sure if you were in front or behind us!
pittmd1
I think my favorite part was after the final set of roller coaster runs outta bagdad and evryone were all jazed up and excitedly talking about their experience by the side of the road. Great cars for a great road. My video is finished uploading, check it out http://youtu.be/5kJaWknHuwU 9 miles of bendy roads Steve, sorry I did not have a chance to introduce myself yesterday. Thanks for the great videos!
oldmxdog61u
We were running a little behind so we just missed you. See the post of the yarnell hill slammer license plate frame check. Aka. I didn't see any 35mph signs???????
coconut girl
A spotter at the bottom records the vehicle and time and at the top of the hill they look at your elapsed time to determine if you have exceeded the speed limit. Probably because too many crotch rockets were blowing up the hill with avg speeds over 80mph (corners and all). Ahem. Not that I know personally of anyone speeding up the hill, but this is what I saw the last time I was there. I of course split the uphill with a stop and pause that refrfeshes which also gives me a respectqable elapsed time. Thankfully I always observe the posted speed limit. They can do their "timing traps" all they want, but they can't do anything to you, unless they find other non moving violations. I was on a Payson run with Scottsdale Exotic one time. We were coming down the hill & nearing the Ft. McDowell Reservation. Once we got to the stop light by the casino, they turned the light red for the lead car. They turned the light green & forced all of us over to the shoulder. One of the participants was an attorney who wanted to know why we were being pulled over. They said one officer clocked us 10 miles up the road & another at the bottom. They took the time & determined we averaged 110+. The attorney quickly responded that since the same person didn't do both timings, that they had nothing on us (too many variables to make it an accurate test of speed). They let all of us go. Someone tried to warn you.
Dave64
Yup. Wonderful pictures and videos. Had a great time, like others, we got to meet and talk with some new friends yesterday. Sorry for holding-up the group on the return lap, as Pam is not a fan of fun cornering and I couldn't find a good spot to get out of the way. Extender32
I had a nice time on some new roads with new friends!! I think there should be two speed limits such as is the case for passenger cars and trucks with trailers in California. Here in AZ with the beautiful twisties it should be 65 mph if riding in a properly equipped sports car. Surly a motor home should not have the same speed limit as a Vette. Maybe I'm a little biased but up Yarnell hill should continue to be 65 mph. Nice wide two lane roads and good pavement would necessate a higher speed limit. I had no Idea the speed limit dropped to 45 must have been going to fast to see that sign change In any event the DPS officer was more interested in calling his buddy to come look at my license plate and frame and ask a few questions about the car. Pretty nice guy! It must have been my new Birthday Thanks to Bruce for putting this run together SLAMMER :bang Dam Tim, Did you get nailed again? Or did you get off this time with a slap on the wrist? Too bad I wasn't there, you probably wouldn't have got nabbed at all.

08 Vert
Thanks Bruce. That was a great run. I've never been on a lot of those back roads we took to Wickenburg. Really enjoyed the driving and the company! Slammer - I don't know how you got out of that one. When you flew by me going up the hill, I thought you were done for. (I've had a conversation with DPS at about the same spot before) Rick
Extender32
Thanks for posting up the great pics and vids. Makes all the no shows jealous! I've been on those roads before and I'm not too impressed with Vulture Mine Rd. If they weren't running at Talledega yesterday, I would have gone along just because and it would have been worth the while to see Slammer get pulled over again. oldmxdog61u
if any of you liked the route I took to get to the overpass on the way to get to vulture mine road... I will do a run out thru the boonies to gila bend this fall. Just let me know. . I know 100s of miles of farm roads and roads thru no where out there that make for nice sites in the cooler days. Places like courthouse rock , the crawl in bar and library, thr palo verde nuclear plant, the three headed steer ranch, and more. All the rednecking you can stand. Also nko traffic and its peaceful. Plus there are some twisties too. Plus more than one place you can blow out the carbon...
