Team ArizonaLEU is putting on it's Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament at the Wigwam Golf Courses in Litchfield Park on Sunday, December 8, 2013. You can get information on the outing on our website: teamarizonaleu.com. Prices are $90 for singles and $320 for 4-somes.

The purpose of our Tournament is to raise funds to cover the operating expenses for the COPS Kids Summer Camp, which provides surviving spouses with children (ages 6 - 14) the opportunity to work with professional counselors and trained mentors to improve communications within the family unit and resolve grief issues together. Organized camp activities are supplemented with counseling during the weeklong camp. It also provides funding for ODMP to publicize Officer Memorials, Line of Duty Death Notifications and a database of benefits available to surviving family members and for Team AZLEU members to participate in a 240-mile memorial bicycle ride event called the “Road to Hope” from Chesapeake, VA to Washington DC.

I've attached a flyer (bottom of this post) for the golf tournament and am providing some background information on our organization and it's goals. If you have any questions, please contact me through our website, send me a note thru ACE forum or call me at 623.326.0251.

"About Us – Team Arizona LEU"

Team Arizona LEU, a member of Law Enforcement United, is made up of police officers, deputy sheriffs, support staff representing local law enforcement agencies from the State of Arizona and surviving family members of fallen officers. Our membership goal is to raise funds to support the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) Kids Camp, the Officer Down Memorial Page, Inc. (http://www.odmp.org) and to participate in the “Road to Hope”, an annual 240 mile bicycle ride from Chesapeake, Virginia to Washington D.C. honoring fallen officers and their survivors.

Law Enforcement United (L.E.U.) is founded upon, and committed to honoring officers that have died in the line of duty, and ensuring that their surviving families are supported and never forgotten. LEU is a non-profit organization, EXEMPT from Federal Income Tax under Section 501©3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

L.E.U. contributes annually to Concerns of Police Survivors to support their Kids Camp. Each year they have increased their annual donation to be able to now fund 100% of the camp’s operational costs for about 150 kids to attend.

2010: $ 125,000

2011: 135,000

2012: 150,000

Total: $ 410,000 to date

Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty. Furthermore, C.O.P.S. provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the need to support the law enforcement profession and its survivors.

The Officer Down Memorial Page, Inc., (ODMP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring America’s fallen law enforcement heroes. More than 19,000 officers have made the ultimate sacrifice in the United States and it is with great honor that the ODMP pays a lasting tribute to each of these officers by preserving their memories within its pages.

“Road To Hope” Memorial Bicycle Ride

Each May, our national membership comes together in both, Chesapeake, Virginia and Reading, Pennsylvania to participate in an annual bicycle trek to Washington, DC. The routes are 240 miles long. Law enforcement officers, and survivors, nationwide, make this arduous journey pedaling to honor the service and sacrifice of their law enforcement colleagues and family members who have died in the line of duty. Our membership is also comprised of logistical support, including motorcycle escorts, medical staff, food, hotel, security and transportation support team members who support each of these riders during the three day journey. The officers and survivors also ride to raise awareness of and provide monetary support to C.O.P.S. and the O.D.M.P.

In 2012, Team Arizona LEU’s first year of existence, the original five member Team raised over $9,000 to provide support and cover expenses for the “Road to Hope”, bicycle ride. In 2013, the 12 member Team raised over $12,000. This year, the Team, now comprised of 35 members, will attempt to raise approximately $70,000 to provide support and cover expenses for the annual ride.

We're having difficulty getting golfers to sigh-up, so I'm writing this to bring it to everyone's attention, again.

This tournament is to raise funds to cover the operating expenses for the annual Concerns of Police Survivors "Kids Summer Camp" which provides surviving spouses with children (ages 6-14) the opportunity to work with professional counselors and trained mentors to improve communications within the family unit and resolve grief issues together. It also provides limited funds to help Team Arizona Law Enforcement Unied members to take part in the 240 mile "Ride to Hope" bicycle ride from Chesapeake, VA to Washington DC in May 2014. The Team rides in honor of every Arizona Law Enforcement Officer who has fallen in the line of duty. End Of Watch has occured for the following Officers over just the past three years:

DPS Officer Tim Huffman 2013

Phoenix Police Officer Daryl Raetz 2013

MCSO Deputy Bill Coleman 2012

Buckeye Police Officer Rolando Tirado 2011

Glendale Police Officer Brad Jones 2011

Chandler Police Officer Carlos Ledesma 2010
