MOTV8
Corvette claims another championship in 2008 as Arnaud Peyroles and James Ruffier came home first in their No.1 Martini Callaway Corvette Z.06R in this year's FIA GT3 European Championship. They got the job done in the first [and only] race of the 2-event finale for the series and its visit to the United Arab Emirates / Dubai Autodrome. But, it rained and flooded the track washing out the second race [pictured below]....Rained in the desert! Btw- the frogs and locusts prevented a podium celebration. So, it was Friday’s 60-minute race that delivered the Driver's Title in favor of the Callaway duo.Corvette speed won it. After the mandatory pitstop, the Vette was in 3rd behind an AM and a Matech Ford GT [pictured above]. But, the Callaway was visibly quicker. Ruffier secured a 5-second lead over the AM and the Callaway pair took the win and the title.Matech took the Team title....and in what can only be described as a 'tribute to youth soccer where EVERYONE wins a trophy'....each GT3 manufacturer has a Champion's Cup to win and Callaway took the "Corvette Cup" as well.
