So what exactly DO YOU do for a living?

Having met alot of people this last saturday , and putting faces / rl names with screen names. It got me wondering what all of you do for a living. (Other then post here :) ) So i figured i would start the post, sorry if its :deadhorse.

Anyway , I work for Frito Lay in Casa Grande. I am a Equipment Technician, which basically means that our 20 man crew of Techs is responsible for almost all of the equipment involved in producing / packaging those lovely little junk food chips we all love to eat.

Its a really "exciting" (per say, as exciting as a job can get) job in the fact that you never really know what your going to be doing from one day to the next. Could be troublshooting , could be welding , could be PLC programming, or networking..... you just never know. One of the best things about the job, is the fact that we have a full machine shop at our disposal (Mill , lathe, blah blah blah), and yes we get ALOT of "government" jobs done. :cool

So on those days that I don't make the cruise , you can rest assured I am hard at work (<--rofl hardly ever happens) making sure that your bag of ruffles will be on the shelf when you want to have a snack.

So now that I've bored you all to death, whos going next?

3,503 lbs of trouble

I use to be able to say I drove Corvettes for a living, but since we are not testing any at the moment, all I can say is I drive Pontiac Solstices for a living.

I'm a durability test driver at the General Motors Desert Proving Ground. That will probably soon change though.

I also do some Web design on the side.

I am a Field Service Engineer for eMed Technologies.

I install PACS (Picture Archive and Communication Systems). This includes installing computers, servers, networking equipment and other fun toys like 4 drive CD burners with thermal printers (what I am in Santa Fe doing right now).

I get to play with computers that drive 1-5 monitors, each monitor could be between 2 and 5 mega pixels and range in price up to $20,000 per monitor.

Basically what all this PACS stuff does is to get hospitals and imaging centers into the digital age and get them away from printing x-rays and everything else on film. Film is expensive, has to be printed to be read, then has to be stored for a long time, takes up room. If a copy needs to be made to give to another hospital it has to be printed then a courier has to drive it over. If a doctor wants to compare your new images with old ones someone has to search a large film storage room and pull them out.

We do everything on computers. The image comes from the CT or MRI or Ultrasound or a few dozen other scary machines and goes onto the PACS system. We store them in large multiple hard drive storage units or large Jukeboxes with robotic arms grabbing platters and all sorts of cool stuff. We then distribute the images to the doctors read stations and they can see them on a monitor within minutes of the scan being done. They can manipulate them with the computer and do things that film never could do. Previous images can be pulled up in seconds for a side by side comparison instead of having someone searching all over for where the film was stored.

We can put them on web servers so other doctors can see them immediately instead of printing film and sending them. We can put them on Cd's so people can take them home or to their own physicians for later review.

All really cool high end computer imagining stuff. I get to work in hospitals and imaging centers and it's Mon-Fri work that beats digging ditches.

I am currently a Jr. Accountant / Acctg Specialist / Campaigns Chair Person / & the Admin Group Safety Board Chair at Holsum Bakery, Inc. We make the bread that makes the whole world hungry." (Take off of a Barry Manilow song, write the songs that make the whole world sing.....nevermind.... :U )

Jane of all trades here, however, my main focus is on managing the cash flow, House and subsidiary account reconciliations, running the government subsidized programs such as Runzheimer, managing and maintaining all company liabilities and insurance coverages, as well as help to manage all financial aspects of our Purchased Goods, Manufactured goods, and Retail Outlets cash processes.

I just applied to take over a Sales position in upper management to focus strictly on the Retail Outlet Stores that we have all over Arizona. I have always preferred Sales over the Accounting and Finance work, but I happened to fall into A & F and have been doing it for the past 6 years for Holsum. Hopefully, Ill hear something later this week. You all better keep your fingers crossed for me.

Most days I hate the people I work with. Accountants are not generally socially adept people and most I know are total a$$wipes who don't have a personality and rarely think of anyone but themselves. I just don't fit that type of environment and it is very hard for me most days. You all know me well enough to know, I just don't think like that. And then they criticize me for being TOO happy, too laid back, and too good at my job. (Okay, lets not open this can of worms. I have been having a VERY rough week and I need therapy, but I wont bore you all right now.) lol. :bang

I work at Rockford Fosgate as a customer service, tech support, parts person. So all you people with stereos in your cars that blow up amps and subs, I am the person that sets up the warranty and repair costs and also troubleshoots problems and do enclosure designs. (Side hobby is my other car (Non-vette) doing car audio competitions where it is going to the World Finals for the 6th straight year and going after its 3rd World Championship)

After the audio thing I have a side business for website building products such as domain name registering and website hosting space and design programs. It's located at www.bullytech.com

With these things hopefully the lil black C4 can get some more power :devil
