goldenC4 Posted February 18, 2008 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Here's what I did yesterday instead of going on the run to Gila bend:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjXaegiYbpwThe system was in great shape - there were a couple little scrapes on the mufflers, but for half the price of a new system ($585 out the door for a "scratch and dent" return) I can't complain. I wasn't terribly impressed with the install, though. It looked like the bend in the left pipe (the one with the 3-bolt flange) was about 1" too far towards the front, so it's actually resting on the corner of my transmission. I tried twisting it every way possible and finally had to manhandle the whole exhaust into place. Because of this the rest of it didn't fit perfectly. The right tips are slightly lower than the left ones, but it's not terribly noticeable.If I had to do it again I'd probably go the same route - just because of the cost savings. I may pull the front pipe off and either dimple it for the transmission or take it back to the manufacturer and get a new one bent.By the way my new Escort GT2 "performance computer" showed absolutely no change in peak horsepower, but it sure sounds better now. I could not stand the resonance in the 1300-1500 rpm range. For appearance I think its the best looking system out there for the C4. But I like to have a conversation with my wife in the car and the drone annoyed her as well. Now I can enjoy my sound sytem a little more and the Mrs enjoys the cruise as well. BTW looks great on your C4!!!! ;)My 3" system has no drone at all above idle - but I still have my cast-iron manifolds, pre-cats, and cat... Which probably has a lot to do with it. The new style resonator and exit pipes look like this I had the older style which was just painful.
