bones
My baby has been is storage for the last seven months. I start her and take her for a drive every few weeks but the last time, I noticed a "sys" popping up on the digital readout next to the speedometer (96 C4). She seems just fine but what the heck is the "sys" all about?Gary
goldenC4
That's the generic "there's a trouble code set" message. Jumper the pins of your ALDL with a paper clip to read the codes. Then you can just google for the code.

goldenC4
ALDL stands for "Assembly Line Diagnostic Link" - it's the plug under the dash by your right knee to plug scan tools into. You can jumper two of the pins on it with a paper-clip and the digital dash will display the codes. The alternative is that you can buy a scan tool or a cable to connect to a laptop from http://www.aldlcable.com to read the codes. With the cable (you need the OBD-II one) you can read all kinds of stuff while the motor's running. Here's a great writeup on how to do this:http://www.corvettephotographs.com/c4vettes/codes.htm
dss LT1
My bet is that your battery is shot. That is they way the electronics in the C4 behave when the battery is on its way out.

I got the "sys" codes and they are:module # 1diagnostic trouble code H31I can't seem to find a reference to this code by a web search so any help would be great! Here is the awnserI was able to recover the cosed using this technique and I would like to know whast they stand for now. I got the following from module 1 the CCM. H31, H33, H35, AND H37.Thanks for the help and I hope that some others can use this information.Module 1 CCM DTCs31=LCD Data Circuit shorted to B+ or CCM internal open.33=Data Clock Circuit shorted to B+ or CCM internal open.35=Data Strobe circuit shorted to B+ or CCM internal open.37=M Clock Circuit open or shorted to B+ or CCM internal open.Like FX GS said, the H indicates a history code. Forget about it.If you want to read PCM codes, get access to a scan tool. Try Auto Zone. They'll do it for free. And here in the link to the site I found it LinkHope this helpsGreg
