My printer died

My printer died when printing up our taxes last night. Of all times to die, that was not the right time. Thank goodness I was able to save to my thumb drive for future printing. So, my question is, what brands do you all have and is it really expensive to buy and expensive for the refill ink? I want my printer to print black and white along with color. Not much photo printing if any at all.

Thanks in advance for all your input...

BTW, my printer was around 13 years old and an H/P.

I suggest this laser printer.

Neww egg has great pricing.

the 2600n model has a network jack so you can give it an IP address and other computers can print to it eaisly. The laserjet ink does not dry out over time.

IF ou want to save a few pennies look for a HP 2600.

I will never go back to an Ink jet printer again.

I would highly recommend HP printers as well. I just bought a C5280. It has a tray for paper, and a tray for Photo paper, and it prints on cd's. I love it and it was only like 150 bucks. And now, all my cd's can have boobies on them!!!!

Chad,

I am fine with mine, it is a great printer. I bought mine from work for a great used price. I am not working from home as much anymore. So it should last for quite some time.

I would recommend this printer that Chad is selling for others that have a home network and have kids at home that have to print stuff for school work and fun. Network printers make things easier.

There's almost no reason to buy an inkjet anymore, especially when you can get a COLOR laser for well under $500 anymore. I'd recommend HP too. The business model for most of these companies seems to be sell the printer cheap and charge an arm and a leg for the ink or toner. HP seems to be the most reasonable on their ink and toner. Cannon's, Lexmark's, etc almost always have cheaper printers, but their ink and toner is insane.

My Brother HL2070N works great for me. It's laser and only black & white. If I need color I email the file to the printer. Also buy my laser cartridges on line at 1/2 the cost.
