So I miss a couple of days on the forum and Chad breaks out in a moment of wisdom.... :toetap

Me: Yep the forum is up and running!!!!!! :cfdeadagain

I'm just happy I don't have to solve this problem. But I will say that airing this is probably the first step to a better ACE! :grphug:

The first ACE event I attended was Brian's going away at Glenn's. Talk about being nervous...

Luckily, there was one guy there I had worked with for two short weeks back in 2000. So once I found that there were a couple of weapons troops there, I was good to go.

But it was really uncomfortable for a while.

The first VAD I went to, now that was the same thing all over again, except not as bad, because I had invaded one Vette group, actually two with my brief stint in SAC, so basically having been through that a couple of times, it was easier.

Now I look forward to any ACE event that I can attend.

Well, except the one's Sniff shows up to.

(just kidding Molly)

So I understand the apprehension, I've been there.

Unfortunately, Cahd, I can't make any Corvette Saturdays for a few months!

I joined the group a little over 2 years ago. I have not made it to a lot of the events because of things that come up. I believe I am the senior member (beat out Ron by a little bit) and as such you would think people would say whats that old f---t doing here. I had my first Vette in 1962 and ran the h-ll out of it and had a great time. Got married, had kids, mortgage, college expenses, and more. Bought an 84 about 6 years ago. I found out about the group about 3 years ago but felt the car wasn't good enough to belong. Sold it and got my 90. Decided to see what this group is about. They accepted me old man and old car. To hell with the money idea. Everyone has their idea of what they want. It might be looks or speed and most everyone will take that as man thats fast or that looks good. I probably will check out and still have the 90 because I like the car and it fits me. its the car I was looking for and have no intention of selling it. Sure if the engine hatches on me and if the car is in good shape - replace engine.... Never have driven a C5 or C6 haven't really had the desire to. Has anyone said how come you keep the car - no - has anyone criticized me for keeping it - no. Its all about what you like. Everyone is different in their tastes. As far as people go I still feel like a newbie but my circle of getting to know people is growing by going to the events and being on the forum. PARTICIPATION is the word.

Love of the car is what brought everyone here. My .02 Chuck

First event we went to after the welcome on this board Kathy and I both felt like outsiders.

-shrug-

Been thru it before, no big deal.

I figured at the very least we would get to look at some nice cars.

Plain fact is that its tuff to seat everyone next to everyone else.

It's also tuff to walk into a group that you don't have any idea who's face goes to what avatar/call sign.

After the lunch I think we talked to Phil first .. and then a few others, outside. It just takes time.

Perhaps I got off on the wrong foot with you, Chad.

I have no idea .. havent said more than 'hiya' to you in person.

-Frank

Where is the ACE that I enjoyed?

..I miss it

“Corvette Saturday”

Where everyone wore Ugly Hawaiian for a reason.

When we used a 1LB “wrench” to fix stuff.

I have a thick skin,

So If you feel the need to arrack me; DO so.

So If you feel the complement me; DO so.

So If you feel the criticize me; DO so.

I miss the old ACE.

Chad

well, this old ACE member up and moved out. I do miss the Corvette Saturdays that were the beginning of ACE. Working on cars, watching others work on cars, an excuse to drink beer at 10:00 a.m.

You never need a reason to where an ugly Hawaiian shirt -- just do it.

That 1 lb wrench was on my car. I also remember the Corvette Saturday where someone was under my car using my "wrench" to work on the power steering conversion.

"BANG" .............. "BANG"................"BANG"............"thump". "OW - damn that hurt!!!" Guess the head of the wrench doesn't stay on forever. Left a nice red spot on his forehead when it did come off.

Best I can say is I miss the old ACE, the ACE that was there when I left. I don't know the new ACE, but I hope there is always an ACE if I come back to Arizona.
