Chameleon
So. . . ACE's very own @aenigma and @Lonnie67 are competing in Hot Rod Drag Week 2023. I have the honor of riding shotgun with @aenigma in her badass 1977 Corvette. @Lonnie67 is racing his built 1967 Camaro. That thing flies! For anyone not familiar with Drag Week, you can find out about it here: https://www.motortrend.com/events/hot-rod-drag-week/ First day of racing is at Darlington Dragway in Hartsville, SC, 30 hours drive time from home. We caravan out on the 14th, and I'll be posting up pics and info here. If you're interested in street car drag racing, stay tuned!
Buccaneer
That's awesome and hope they both do well. I would go, but they said NO CFI corvettes, they are too slow. Damn!

Chameleon
13.5 hours of driving to Shamrock TX yesterday. Stopped going into New Mexico to cover the carbs because of rain. Drove in some heavy rain yesterday, had a semi change lanes on top of us requiring stab breaking to avoid his trailer. Lost the carb tarp on the Vette somewhere between Tucumcari and Amarillo last night, so Lonnie fabricated a replacement in the parking lot at the hotel.

Chameleon
So...yesterday was a 900+ mile day and I was too tired to post up anything. Stayed in Cookeville TN last night, drove to Florence SC today. We are where we will be for the next two nights. We have some minor damage to the Vette trailer connectors because they came loose and became damaged enroute today. That repair will happen tonight. Gotta be at the track early tomorrow for tech, then we leave the tow vehicles and trailers behind and we're in the drag cars for the next 5 days. Racing starts Monday morning. Absolutely beautiful back here! @old yeller, we did stop at a Buc-ee's today, @aenigma and @Lonnie67 were amazed. 1

Chameleon
We got through tech and then it poured rain for 4 hours, so no Test & Tune today. Finally stopped raining so we could switch to street tires to drive to the hotel. Racing starts tomorrow...

Buc-ee's was a madhouse we stopped at the one located at the exit for Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, and Pigeon Forge...on a Saturday. It was PACKED. Lonnie's friend Eric, who is his co-pilot this trip, said he'd "never seen so many gas pumps in one place" Yes, their cars are amazing! Lonnie has meticulous attention to detail. Even the trailers we're pulling have been set up perfectly for function.
SixAddict
Wishing you all the best of travels and racing. Great photos, thanks for being the photographer. Both cars are done very well. Takes me back oh a hundred years or so….
roneva
Those pics of the mountains and trees make me homesick! The "bald" hills of AZ just don't do it for me. Thanks for the pics. Good luck width the racing!
