Grape Ape
Hope all is well with y'all a Christmas was good to ya. Been busy around Grape Ape acres lately fixing things and playing with stuff. Christmas day we got our white Christmas finally. Roads were horrible to say the least and took the truck out to visit family and have lunch with them. Now It's time to take it into town and give it good rinse. I'm going to pick up something new for Grape too if it's in stock. Not anything to put on him, but something for him to use while he's resting in winter time. It's still cold out and we still have about 4 inches of the white stuff on the ground. They had a lot more out west and south of us so I feel fortunate we only got what we did. Take care y'all and hope 2024 is better for everyone. Some of the snow we got Christmas day. This was half of the 4 lane heading north on hiway 77. Only 1 lane each way was usable. Sure glad I bought this 4x4 now and the reason I did. After we got home and the reason for needing a bath.
Desertdawg
No white stuff for us, it was sunny but cool here. Perfect for grilling some cow for Christmas dinner in shorts.

Grape Ape
This isn't purple stuff, but white, wet stuff. Got about 8 inches of it yesterday and overnight last night. Tried to dig myself out with a small mower-snowplow I have. NOPE..... Got some of it done but that little tractor couldn't handle the big stuff. So I'm going to have to spend some money on a blade for my side-by-side and be ready for it next time. It was fun playing with the mower but it will be even more fun with the side-by-side. Maybe if I spend the money on a new blade it won't snow near as much either. Isn't that the way its suppose to work! I did get a new curtain for the detached garage door window though. So I guess that's got some purple in it. I had to replace the door as the outside frame had water damage and was rotted through. Spent a couple days replacing that myself just before Christmas. Great learning process as I've not done one before and it was fun. Glad I got it done before it got real cold out too.
Desertdawg
Yeah but, but ….. why is the frame green? Have fun with that white stuff, seeing it on my screen is enough for me.
P51tj
Been debating a blade for our side x side as well. I seems we don't get that white stuff quite like yall do. Let me know how your setup works for you. Stay warm!
Grape Ape
The green is because my dad had a sinclair station from 1955 until 1993. I worked for him from roughly 1977 when I was 16 or so until 1987. Then I went into A&P school. The people who owned the building sold it out from under him without letting him know it was for sale so he had to close it. It's just a way for me to honor him for it and I also have some sinclair signs/memorabilia in there too. My own little sinclair hideaway. When I can get a new bumper and blade on my ranger, Tim, I'll definitely let you know how it works. But my neighbor has one and it works great. He had my drive cleaned in 2 swipes with it. Finally was able to get out today too.
Grape Ape
We're supposed to get up to 7-8 more inches tomorrow into Friday. I may need that blade sooner then later.
Grape Ape
Finally got dug out a couple days ago and I'm able to get to town again if needed. Had to put the small mower-blade to some heavy use to get it done though. Went up and down the main drive like 20 times with it as the snow was wet and heavy and hard for that little guy to keep up. I was fighting -40 windchills on the 18th to try and keep up with it but had to give up or freeze to death and finish on the 19th. Got it done though. I've been busy with a shovel too getting access to the back patio as well. I'm still waiting on parts for the ranger blade installation as they were delayed due to weather down in Alabama. Not sure I'll have that done before spring but the front bumper and winch is first on the list. I'm hoping I can get the front circle drive cleaned out about mid week as it's suppose to be above freezing and might melt enough I can get the mower up there and play some more with it. Hope y'all are doing well.
Grape Ape
Been busy with the Ranger lately. Getting it ready for the next big snow storm. Most likely it won't come now that I'll be more prepared for it. I bought a new Wild Boar front bumper for it and getting a winch installed so it can handle the 72" snow blade I have on order for it. I just need to secure the wires from the winch to the frame just aft of the bumper and then mount and hook up the cutoff switch. I made a bracket for it to mount under the seat and close to the battery. Won't get any time with it tomorrow as I'm planning on lunch with the parents and that takes most of the day so we can visit. I'll finish it up Wednesday and try it out, hopefully it will work. It should. Blade should be here by weeks end I hope. I'm really enjoying the time working on this thing. It's a fun process and great therapy for me. The winch I bought it like.........WAAAAAAAAAY overkill. But more power, more better. Right! 😀👍
Desertdawg
Nice looking bumper. You going to order one for the Vette ?
P51tj
Nice work there, and a 72" blade to boot! Thumbs up!
Grape Ape
Thanks, gonna be fun to play with. I will need a bumper like this for the vette if I want to take it out anytime soon. Still a 4 foot drift in front of the garage. It is melting but slowly. The vette will sit until at least March or April I'm sure.
Grape Ape
Bumper and winch are on. Very solid bumper and the winch works great. Now I wait for the blade to show up and then it will keep the snow away. Also added some LED headlights to it.
P51tj
Looks good, wall art too.
Grape Ape
Got the blade in a oouple days ago. Had to modify the front bumper lower support to be able to mount the Ranger side mount though. The instructions say to use the stock front bumper but I wanted to use fhis Wild Boar one as the winch is up higher and the angle that the cable would pull on it would be better and easier on the cable. So I spent a couple days making a metal skeleton frame for inside the vent support. I tried it out on a couple 2 foot drifts we still have around here and it worked very well. I'll be pretty happy with it. The snow was the heavy wet stuff so I had to take it down in layers for the Ranger to be able to power through it. But we got it done. Now that I have it set up and working I hope I don't have to use it to much. The winch works great with it too. The extra support I made for the lower support didn't even deform or try to bend at all. I'm sure that it will work also. Gonna be great addition to use around here. Desertdawg
Man that’s a lot of work just to push some moisture around…. I wonder if it would work here to push the dust off the patio? BTW, if it’s still cold there, this latest storm has a lot of rain in it headed your way.
Grape Ape
If the dust is thick enough, which I'm going to assume it is since it's Arizona, it would move a lot of dust. The weather is nice right now. If it's rain, I'm all good with that. It does get below freezing at night still though. The snow we had around is pretty much gone except some piles that were pretty high at the time. Almost into spring weather now so I'm on the backside of cold I hope.
P51tj
"Almost into spring weather now so I'm on the backside of cold I hope." Way to go, jinx it! Some snow for us forecasted
Grape Ape
Sorry buddy. Our forecast for here the next 10 days is below 10% chance of anything wet. So it is working up here to keep it away. Must have sent it farther south. 😁 They're also getting up to 4 inches of the white stuff out west too.
