Shit. Coolant leak

I pulled the 99 out of the garage this morning to make room for the truck for an oil change. I walked back in to the now empty space where the Vette usually sits, and there was a quarter sized puddle of coolant, and on either side of it, tiny a spray pattern telling me that it was probably slung off a pulley. So, now I get to deal with that after I'm done with the truck.

Anyone seen this particular scenario before?

Centerline of car or under say passenger side frame rail?

Center. And I'm moving the car back in the garage in a few. I'm going to check again where it's been parked for a couple hours to verify.

Just moved it back in the garage and not a drop on the ground was found where it sat for the last couple hours. Not sure what that means at this point.

Probably the water pump gently weeping.

There are worse jobs to do on this car I guess.

I just this job about 6 months ago. Cracked radiator... so while it was out, new upper & lower hoses, t-stat, water pump, belts, and all the pulleys. It wasn't a bad job to do by mystelf, especially when everything was out of the way!

Did mine on the c5 before I sold it, it was a mystery though as it was a small leak I could not find, later bigger crack. Crack kills

I've never had a drop of anything leak until last week and same exact thing! A quarter size drop and it was PINK. 35K miles and this! Oh well, water pump here we come. I don't believe waiting for a disaster is very smart. I just look at it as a learning experience! :smilelol Maybe we should have a water pump day. I buy parts for no apparent reason anyway. :atwitsend:

Look close at the hose clamps. I had a weeper at the surge tank, a new clamp in place of the oem spring clamp was the ticket

I'm going to have a closer look at mine soon. I just don't have time right now to even get the car up in the air. But if I were a betting man, I'd say this is  the water pump.

It's all because you don't drive it enough. 35K on an '04 is almost a garage queen.

Wendy wants me to grow it out and have myself a man-bun! And maybe a little pony tail too. Grow my goatee out so I can put a rubber band on it also. Then I'll start wearing socks with flip-flops and get some sleeveless t-shirts to drive the old widows crazy!

So what brand water pump did you go with? Everything I can find is from China, and even AC/Delco pumps (all made in China now, it seems) are getting bad reviews on Amazon.

I'm ready to do this. The tiny drop has turned into an intermittent leak. I'll leave a small puddle once in a while.

I don’t recall which brand it was, but it was all sourced by Frank Dunshee.  I’m not sure if he’s still doing the Corvette parts thing anymore tho. Worth a call.
