Where did the cable break? If at the handle, or anywhere under the dash, just clamp on with some pliers to what is left and pull.2. Can you get the wiper door to open and stay open? On my 1980 (no wiper door) there is a small access hole for just this problem. There should be a small hole in the firewall on the driver's side upper corner (may have a plug in it). Through this hole you should be able to push a screwdriver through and engage the latch that holds the drivers side of the hood down.
