WSI powdercoat Z06 chrome Spyder wheels

Recommended Posts

Had appointment with Wheel Specialists today to powder coat the wheels satin black.  They were going to have it done in two days, this is my daily driver.  I guess they didn't realize the OEM wheels are actually chrome, not coated add they expected. After hearing the options (half-ass or the right way) I chose the right way. removing the chrome, which makes the total lead time two weeks.

Concerned about a two-week rental car bill, they offered loaner wheels. Not bad, Z06  style! Great solution. Looking forward to the finished product in 2 weeks

It's a shame your having to ruin those factory chromies. Mine are aftermarket and would have loved to have found factory chrome rims for less than 5grand a set.

Edit ... 4 grand. - last set I saw were $4400 for factory.

Let me say, I'm happy you love it.

I just don't like black wheels, personally.

The very fact that you oppose this makes me think I'm onto something (Seinfeld line) :)

Though I'm not a big fan of black wheels either, but they do look good on some rides. With that said...yours looks OK to me, but I still liked the chrome wheels better, made the car pop with the yeller. I like black wheels that have either a thin orange or red stripe on them, but lots of peeps don't like those anymore.

I love the black with red strip.  Looks awesome with the red calipers.

I still think you should have sold them as chrome and you could have bought some factory painted ones cheap to powder coat. You would have been ahead.

That said. Looks cool on your ride. :thumbs

I'm considering road course. So this is the aggresive "feel" I'm going after, albeit a much more subtle way. After accepting the fact I actually purchased a yellow car, I'm still not flashy or attention seeking with it.  But also don't want to have the boring stock look like everyone else :)corvette-racing-c6r-gt2-12.jpg

I think the point was you could have sold those, had $1000+ in your pocket when all said and done after buying some painted ones to get coated. The chrome ones go for big money.

I would have just put some forgestars on it. Lighter, stronger, and IMO better looking and they come in any color you want.

I like the Black and Yellow look! You said you are considering track work... what does that mean? If you want to run Pro-Auto or NASA you'll need better brake pads, better brake pads are aggressive, aggressive pads lead to copious amounts of dusting and I don't think you want to trash your new rims that way. A suggestion would be to purchase dedicated track rims and tires. I think SLAMMER has a great set-up already for $1800 in the For Sale section....

Was out awhile, death in family.

Anyway, Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys. I get what's being said about the wheels, I really do. It was a great suggestion but it was actually too late. I'll make sure I post up earlier for suggestions next time :)

my mindset is this is a "forever" car.  I do plan to eventually transition to road track only (NASA, etc.) Since I already have a drag only car.

Have an appointment with Joe at CPR in a few weeks. Heads, cam, intake, headers, cai. This will be my daily street beast for a few years.  Can't wait!!
