Maybe it's because manual trans cars wouldn't show up if automatics were allowed. Fear factor? :lol

Very excited to be a part of bringing this amazing national tour event to PHX!!! Tom auto's are allowed, they just did a manual class if you want to enter that on it's own. You probably hate the king of the bakery class huh :P Or the grudge race no times shown class? My tech mario will be in that one and open call out to anyone that wants to run hehe.

Still says have to meet track tech requirements. I'll probably be there watching, but no way my car meets tech requirements so no go for any racing.

I'm hoping you don't lose out on this event, but here's part of the problem.

Amazingly, but certainly not unexpected, WHP doesn't show this event on their unbelievably crappy website. I've just about given up on drag racing in the Phoenix area.

Over in the high rent district of the Bay area, they race a competitive program every Wed night in Sonoma $25 race/$10 watch or Sacramento $15/$7. Their website has lots of information and they draw 900-1200 racers and spectators at each place every week with a well run program.

WHP runs a changing schedule, if at all, with little to no information on the website or from the bimbo who "might" answer the phone during weekdays. They now charge $40 for a free-for-all TnT on some Fri nights and $15 to watch it. They draw less than 100 on a poor night and maybe 200 on a good one. They have no program of their own whatsoever and totally rely on other groups to run a competition. Now that 5 & Diner bailed out because of the high cost, they're down to 7 sponsors, which the smaller performance shops can no longer afford either. Without the average Joe racer and regular programs, the overall interest will die and reveal itself as too few butts in the seats for the NHRA national event.

Take a WAG as to which tracks are making money and which one treats it as a side-show attraction for the casino.

SCT are huge and this will be huge, even if wildhorse doesn't say a thing about it. Already have tons of people driving and flying in from out of state. I'll be at the dyno event, BBQ, races, but if tech is strict, unless they have a "no tech" class not going to do any racing.

My point was that WHP doesn't do anything themselves beyond open the gates and pretend that the Friday night drags is a real racing event. Raising the already high cost of a TnT has pushed out the spectator base that is the backbone of a track. If you have doubts about it, then look at the websites of the other tracks this event visits and look at their schedules and costs. WHP is a joke in the racing world.

Joe said tech is going to be fairly "loose", given this is a track rental (?).

My attendance has been complicated by an issue which was discovered during an inspection CPR did during the starter install. If all goes well, I'll try to compete in the Stick Shift class.

I won't be losing out on this these events bring thousands upon thousands of spectators to each one. And the people are the target audience I cater towards so it'll be good :)

$40 to TnT? Holy crap. These guys are crazy.

I'll show up to spectate since my drag pack won't be in by then.

Thats normal wildhorse prices now.

And also why their attendance has gone down. If you don't go tonight or next Friday, the only other TnT before January will be twice in November. Since they jacked up the prices for the second time in two years, the attendance went down, so being the masters of business logic that they are, they cut back the times they were open. If it wasn't for Bondurant and a couple of NHRA races, the place would resemble Beeline. Putting any business on Indian or State owned land is a recipe for eventual disaster.
