phxscooby101
I have got my new 275 40 17 Nitto 555r on the rears. So what is the best air pressure for drag racing at the track? They said they pumped them up to 40psi, which seems kind of high? Thanks, Chad R
ICULUKN
depends on track prep.. I run 12# at firebird on BFG's which are a little softer.
phxscooby101
12 psi That seems kind of low? I think will try 35 psi then lower it and try some more runs. Thanks for the input. Chad R.
Guest Sidewinder
Run the recommended tire pressure on the street i.e. 35psi and then drop the to 16 psi at the track, do about a 4 second burnout and then hit it.
ICULUKN
i run at 20# on the street to assist with traction.
Guest Sidewinder
Glenn, I tried a few pressure setting for the street and a good COLD pressure was 35 psi for my weight and horsepower. If I had a BIG tq curve like blackula I would also drop the pressure on the street. He should be fine at 35ish

Chad R.Chad, did you see my burnout vid??That was with 28 cold and I had just got home from driving the car so maybe 32 psi!!I lost tread contact of about 1.25-1.5 inches from the edges of the tread! That reduced my effective tire size from a 305 to a 240-230!!Glenn has a ton of runs and knows his car!!I have a new car and tires so with the 305/45s I plan on starting at 18 cold.A good burn will bring me to low 20's. That's a safe place for getting a feel of the car!Ken
phxscooby101
Ok so its sounds like 30psi cold on the street and 16psi at the track. So how can I get the correct psi when I'm at the track since the tires should be hot by then from driving there? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm a nubie to drag racing :D or doesn't make that much of a difference? Thanks Chad R.
Guest Sidewinder
When you get to the track put'em @
Guest UVETTYA
When you get to the track put'em @ 16...And check them again at least after the first run.I also raise my front TP to 45.Don't drive through the water box -- drive around it and back in.
