What is with "Corvette Forum"?

Recommended Posts

Every time I try to go to that site it "jams" my browser up. Even if I look here, click a link to it, it never fully downloads. I go to register and their page never fully downloads and then any other open window never fully downloads again. I have to close all open browsers and start all over again.

I emailed them with no response.

Any ideas??? :banghead

That's bizarre - I don't have that problem and post over there fairly regularly.

Are you possibly using an outdated browser or something? whaat.gif

Internet explorer 6.0. :cone Should be fine I would think. It always gets stuck downloading image c7 or something like that. But really screws up any other open browsers too.

it jamed because you have a Java or active X script running that should not be there.

to fix:

go to Internet explorer, Tools/internet options...

In the General tab click on settings..

click on View objects...

In the new window Right click and delete anything like this

654646-66545d6-asklhdf-

or

anything that says 'damaged'

or

anything that you dont reckonize

What is normal is ; Java, Offie, shockwave, microsoft stuff.

Next step

Click on the Security tab (next to the General tab)

Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites, and Restricted Sites all need to be a Default Level.

From that point run a good Anti spy ware program. I like Adaware at the moment.

cheers

Chad, I did have one of those active x things that the puter did not recognize. I followed your directions and it had no effect on IE. Guess I'll just have to use FireFox for that forum.

something is causing IE not to work properley.

Using fire fox is not fixing the issue. Just going around it.

Please be mindful that whatever is breaking your IE is still there, and may start to break other stuff.

OK ill get of my Soap box now. :P

OK, what could be causing the problem. I'm running Norton to for anti virus and system and everything else seems to be running just fine. :banghead

Don't listen to Chad - he only knows what he's talking about more than the rest of us! :P

I say dump IE permanently because Firefox is better! neener_neener.gif

Try downloading and running Ad-Aware - this will check for and remove possible Spyware from your system, like he stated before. This is separate from running an Anti-Virus program. :D

you have no idea how many times Ive seen a "healthy" norton miss virsus.

A common ploy for a virus is to disable the Active-scanning (by swapping around the startup sequence [sp] and launching the virus first before the Anti virus program is even running) and put in a bogus picture of a healthy norton icon in the task manager.

The best fix is to go to www.download.com and search for

adaware

and

avg free

download both and run both scans

then when complete

then run windows update.

that should do ya

Huh - I don't use IE, I use Firefox, so I'm not really sure what's going on there. Sorry...

Firefox and Safari here...IE - Never.

Actually, after doing your recommended things, my whole system has slowed down. :cuss

It could be that 2 anti-virus programs are running. :ack

Guess I'll turn one off.
