Odd AC question

Is it normal in C5's to have the AC cut down/"turn off" under hard acceleration; then when back to neutral throttle it comes back up to normal operation? :burnout

There is a clutch on the AC to disengage when the engine is under WOT. This allows the AC unit to spin freely and reduce the parasitic load on the engine; free hp... :burnout

With Corvettes there is no such thing as "free HP". It all costs big $$$. :lol
