1EVLC7 Posted August 25, 2010 Share Posted August 25, 2010 MONTEREY, CA — Barry Meguiar, host of Car Crazy TV and the man behind the line of Meguiar’s detailing products was admitted to the ICU and was listed in serious condition, an AutoGuide.com story said. The Aug. 20 story said Meguiar was eventually listed in stable condition, according to a statement released by Meguiar’s, Inc. Meguiar, who took his family’s car detailing product business and turned into into a multi-million dollar operation; was attending the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance when he fell ill after contracting an undiagnosed virus, reportedly from filming his TV show outside the United States. He was immediately rushed to Monterey Community Hospital and taken into intensive care . Meguiar is one of the most popular figures on the collector car circuit and is often to be found at major events across the United States, including SEMA. Hopefully he'll be up and running by the time SEMA rolls around Barry Meguiar Leaves Hospital Barry Meguiar, president of Meguiar's, was released from the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula on Monday, August 30, after a 17-day battle with a rare form of viral pneumonia. Meguiar entered the hospital during Monterey car week, and doctors eventually put him in an eight-day induced coma to battle the infection. Meguiar thanked God and the many car guys who work at the hospital for saying his life. "Car guys are literally working in every department, and all the things that make car guys special permeate this place...from the high performance of their equipment to the determination to go the extra mile everywhere you look," Meguiar said in a press release.
