dss LT1
Any idea where I can get the Carb Base Plate for my LT-1's Holley re-built/refurbished? It is leaking gas on to the intake manifold...Dave
Togo
Any idea where I can get the Carb Base Plate for my LT-1's Holley re-built/refurbished? It is leaking gas on to the intake manifold...Dave pardon the ignorance about carb'd motors - but is the base plate actually part of the carb, or is it some sort of "adapter" to adapt the holley to the "quadra-jet" type holes on the manifold? dss LT1
Don't know the answer to your question. On the LT-1 cars, the intake and the Holley carb are specific to that engine. I also know that the base plate is a separate part that I can buy NOS... but I ultimately want the original part rebuilt and reinstalled.
Guest UVETTYA
I've never worked on an LT-1 but I've worked on a lot of carbureted cars. Of course, that was 20 yrs ago but I seem to remember they had a gasket under the carb. Maybe that's all it is. I did a little research for you. You can buy carb adapters here...http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc...s_spacers.shtmlOr try the third item down on this page...http://search.ebay.com/search/carburetor-g...QfclZ4QQfnuZ1QQOr, check this page...http://tinyurl.com/znk2yAnd do a search on the page for "carburetor."Also, you might want to call these guys if this doesn't get you what you want...http://www.nationalcarburetors.com/Good luckSteve
BSeery
Call around to the local carb. shops and see if you can get it rebuilt locally. I don't have any that I can personally recommend, but I do know there are local shops that rebuild carbs.
Guest 1FASTC4
Hmm are you sure it's leaking at the base? A leak in the body or at one of the lines can be deceptive. Either way, it's an easy fix... gasket or otherwise.
dss LT1
Thanks for the input so far - a little more info - Doug Bromley is working on the car... he replaced the base plate because the linkage had a lot of play in it - so I have the original and would like to get it refurb'd so I can eventually get the original back on the car. He has refurb'd the rest of the carb and new gasket - also did the intake manifold gaskets. He is getting the car back later this week to re-build the entire front suspension & steering as well as some work on the ignition. The rear suspension is already all-new. Can't wait to get it on the road after all that.
anmracing2
Sounds like the shaft assembly is what everyone is talking about. I think holley has a base plate kit but unsure, I know they sell a whole shaft assembly. Last time I built one it was about $125.00 for the shaft assembly. Is the car drivable? Maybe we can take a look at it. Does the car idle ok? This could cause it to load up and make it feel like its vaporlocking. The gas is probably coming from the shaft right under the throttle linkage. Andrew
