Project BlakMajik

Well, I don't post on here much but thought I would let everyone know of the project I'm starting on the Vette. Once completed, it will be a full on carputer with all the loaded goodies like GPS, DVD video, MP3 playback and such. But first I must have the stereo in full working order, so the interior is getting ready to come out for all speaker placement and measaurements and wiring so the distances can be loaded into the signal processor later on. Once all that has been done, the cd player will then come out and the screen will then take it's place with the computer brain located somewhere in the back.

Looks like I got a lot ahead of me, but I have spent 9 months building my last stereo project so this one shouldn't be quite as bad. Will keep you guys updated as I go along. Once it's "finished" anyone is welcome to take a listen as the application will be slightly different than what GM/Bose intended.

Wish me luck.

I have checked out that forum. Figured it's going to be easier to this in 2 stages, get the audio system up to snuff, then throw the computer in the mix. That way I know anything audio related already works, and it's got enough gizmos on it's own to create chaotic confusion. :D

By the way, here is where my latest creation resides.

www.tcaudio.net

go to galleries and look at the 2 Honda Preludes, the red one is mine and the silver is my mom's of all people ROFL!!! These were built while I was still living in Little Rock, AR

Well, here is the first update. All the equipment is sitting in the garage ready for installation. Once the vette is back from teh mechanic, the Grand Sport wheels will go on and paint job will get finished. Since I work at Rockford, of course, most of the system consists of our products. It will include:

(2) Rockford Fosgate T4004 Amplifiers (50x4 watts)

(1) Rockford Fosgate T115D4 Subwoofer (15 inch)

(1) Rockford Fosgate RFX 8240 Cd player (Made by Denon)

And of course our RCA and power cables. The component speakers for upfront are some test models along with the signal processor which is being released at CES this week.

I have come to the conclusion that while carputers are really cool in a gadgety sort of way, I would much rather have an incredibly nice sounding system since that is what the car will be judged on in competition. Oh yes, it will be attending the International Autosound Challenge Association World Finals later this year in the Expert open wattage class. Will get "spy" photos as the build goes and when it's finished, expect to see the car on cruises as I want to meet everyone here.

So planning and design is finished, time to get to work. :D

I love the carputer concept.

I want one device to play all my music, be it on CD/CDRW/DVD/DVDRW. It needs to have a hard drive that can store all the MP3's I need and to keep a decent video library and maps for the GPS. It should be wireless so I can upload and download to the car from my home computer.

Of course it needs a great GPS system with a full directory of everything (hotels, gas stations, ATM's) and a rear view camera that comes on when you drop it into reverse.

It doesn't need to be too freaking loud, as only I need to listen to it, not the people 20 cars back (not a knock against others, I am just that way).

And of course it will have a full data log feature of the car and it's functions. I should be able to pull up the OBDII and see any faults and record and view realtime all the items such as oil pressure, water temp, volts, RPM's, MPH, MPG -- all that stuff. And being able to tune the car with the same system would be a plus as well.

Let me know when someone can get that all in one package, ready to install.

Gee, you're simple to please, aren't you? :lol

If you had all that stuff in the car in TN, you'd be like a GOD or an alien or something.....Or, they might think you were CIA, spying on them and you'd get your bootie shot!

Looks like this guy is on the way to your dream system. He's got the wireless part :D

http://www.mobilevideo4less.com/

This link has pre built all in one systems where you can do pretty much all you emntioned as well as get XM radio too. The only reason I didn't like this was to load a cd I would have to go to the back of the car to put it in instead of using a slimline cd/dvd drive to fab into the dash.

mp3car.com is good to but more for a diy'er who understands what they're getting into and likes to tinker.

I'll have enough gadgets with the signal processor and the cooling of the amplifier application I'm trying to put into place.
