I am the Vice President and CIO of a small computer company. I have been with this company for 15 of the 20 years we have been in business. We specialize in Human Capital Management which is a fancy way of saying that we track your employees time and attendance, benefit accruals, and can tell you which employee makes the most widgets in the least amount of time. Not the most exciting job in the world but I like it, we save companies tons of money, and my 09 Vert is my COMPANY CAR!!

United States Marine Corps. Almost 19 years now. First 16 I was an Infantry guy but then they gave me this First Sergeant gig and now all I do is deal with paperwork and make sure everyone else is doing what they are supposed to, there's more to it but..... Been stationed in DC, NC x3, SC and VA mostly and now Northern Mexico...I ...mean...Tucson :banannasword: . There are not that many options compared to the other branches as far as bases for us. Saw the world in my first couple of years thanks to Uncle Sam (and the Navy's friggin ships), Spain, Portugal, Greece, Africa, Yugoslavia, Russia, Estonia, Germany, Cuba and France. Was a Drill Instructor for three years too. Been to Iraq twice. First time was early 2005 and was part of a Transition Team in Ramadi which, at that time, was the number one place in all of Iraq NOT to be especially living with the Iraqi Security Forces. This was before the vote for their constitution and first round of elections and "Awakening", as they now call it, that turned everything around over there. Anyway, about 5 months in during one of the almost daily firefights, I found out I am not Superman and 7.62 rounds do not bounce off one's chest. Spent some time in the hospital, got healed up, and went back again from Jan 2007 thru Feb 2008 this time to Fallujah. Came out here for a break almost as soon as I got back this last time. Currently trying to figure out if I am going to retire at 20 or keep going........ :flag

3,503 lbs of trouble

I thought this might be a good opportunity to let those of you who even still remember me, lol, know what I’m up to these days. I still work for Kett Engineering in Chandler. After our GM contract ended due to the closing of the GM Desert Proving Ground where I was a test driver and powertrain testing technician, I’ve since managed a hybrid vehicle testing project for Daimler/Mercedes-Benz in Manhattan, NYC and currently I’m the East Coast Vehicle Test Coordinator for Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, a.k.a. BMW. BMW AG conducts their North American testing out of Oxnard, CA. Recently they decided to set up a scaled down satellite version of that operation on the East Coast, and soon after they got underway last year I jumped onboard. We are operating out of an engineering building at BMW NA’s North American HQ in Woodcliff Lake, NJ, and our sub-department is still developing. Currently we are a team of six, and I’m the only American. I was hired to supervise the eventual small pool of test drivers we will employ and coordinate the vehicle testing for the engineers I work under, but in the meantime my primary duty is to develop BMW’s East Coast testing routes, among other miscellaneous things. It’s a great position with a great company, and I’m thankful beyond words that I have it during times like these. The only drawback… It’s in New Jersey!! I still own my condo in Tempe, and honestly, I still consider it “home”. All I have in NJ are two suitcases full of necessities and a 23 year old second hand BMW 325is I picked up for $1,200. bucks to get me around (Thank God I get parts for cost!!). I sublet rooms for the time being. Don’t think NJ is where I want to spend the rest of my life, but I could not turn down the golden job opportunity. Most of you know I sold my ‘79 Vette back in ‘05 (doesn’t feel like five years!), but I still have my DeLorean. It’s stays in AZ. I really miss hanging out with ACE. Those were really good times. I’m glad to see the group is strong and ever growing! I miss my old Vette too, but I know it’s in good hands. Got a new Netbook and mobile broadband, so I’ll have to start coming around here and the CF again. Eddie, remember when we were neck and neck for the highest post count? Appears I've fallen a little behind, but I can still catch up! :howdy Dan W.

Due to the evaporation of construction, I submit my career change update.

My new career is Slacker.

I will no longer have to take any crap from uninformed and unreasonable homeowners or employees.

No longer do I have to enter mass amounts of figures into Neat Receipt, Quick Books or paying huge taxes.

Also, I am relieved from the the stress of waking up early, driving across town, or squeezing meeting dates into my blackberry.

The best part of my new career is the free time.

I enjoy hearing more about the neighborhood gossip , washing dishes, driving the kid to school and helping with household chores.

As unbelievable as this new career is.....

the pay sucks.....

I'm thinking of quitting. :banghead

Everything geeky. My official job title is Senior VoIP Engineer... think Vonage on steroids. Voice, Video, & Data Networks. Hacker of most things electronic and/or software related for fun. I hold a BS in EET. I also side-job some computer service, install, setup, etc... as well as Audio/Video and security systems. I'm a general jack of all trades, master of few, but I can do just about anything I set my mind to, except brain surgery. :)
