jstrutt
I was watching CNN this morning and it showed vehicles 1/2 way up to their windows in water. Announcer said it was in Phoenix.
1EvilC5
That is normal everytime it rains here in Phoenix. We get enough rain to fill a wash quickly and the water flows quickly and will catch people by supprise.Or we get the yahoos that see the water flowing across the road and do not know the dip in the road is over 4 feet deep. Then the Fire and Police have to step in and help rescue them.
jstrutt
Sort of like Vegas. I was there one day when it was raining and the water was flowing into the casinos. Here they have a trick. In Regina the underpasses are deep and drainage the pits. Want to get rid of a car fast. Insurance hates it.

jstrutt
Idiots Poor IT GOES. She would rather stay in the garage or face snow rather then that. I applied for my personalized plate "IT GOES" when I got her home (October 30) and today I get the letter saying it's approved. Now it takes 4 to six weeks to get it. Robert and Elizabeth
We got almost 3/4 of an inch of rain over the last 2 days at our house and no flooding in my neighborhood.
Eddie44
Or we get the yahoos that see the water flowing across the road and do not know the dip in the road is over 4 feet deep. Then the Fire and Police have to step in and help rescue them.We have a specific law entitled the "Stupid Motorist Law" that covers these idiots. It's a hefty fine and if they have to come rescue you they can charge the total expense to you. I understand insurance doesn't cover the expense either. What it boils down to here John is they don't know what storm drains are. We don't get enough rain yearly to warrant the expense.
Bigfoot
The newer developments have interesting ways to handle storm water. We have several parks in our neighborhood that "accept" the water. Each of them are well below street level and most, if not all of the water from the area runs into the parks creating temporary lakes/ponds. jstrutt
Sean, we have sewers and drains and I've noticed that in Regina they are doing the same thing. Each new neighbourhood has a "lake" in the middle. I know about washes and it seems logical not to spend a fortune on sewers when it doesn't rain that much. The poop that scares me is the flash floods in the middle of a desert. I can't swim........

jstrutt
That's exactly what they are doing in Regina. A lake surrounded by swings and kids play areas. Makes you wonder?
Bigfoot
You're right about that Tony. I've seen many kids go down and play in them when flooded. Why parents would let them is beyond me. That is some nastyazz water aside from the danger of drowning. Who knows what kind of "thing" they coudl come down with.

We used to swim and waterski in the canals. Talk about some nasty azz water! But then I rode in a car w/o seatbelts until I was about 10 and none of my toys were from China but I'm sure they had a ton of lead paint.

Granted the "fish" that I catch aren't that tasty but like that old saying goes...Teach a man to fish and beer will surely be there!! or something like that!
