Guest UVETTYA Posted May 11, 2007 Share Posted May 11, 2007 Lingenfelter's World Record Holding Fastest Standing Mile Pass With Street TiresThis video was shot May 7th, 2007 at Oscoda, MI - Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport formerly Wurstsmith Air Force Base.The Lingenfelter 2006 ZO6 Corvette 427 CID Twin Turbo blasted down the 11,800 foot runway from a dead stop to a measured mile at 226.25 MPH. This is not a race car and has full interior and stock seats and air conditioning. The car still has the factory style independent rear suspension. The car is fitted with a six point roll bar and 5 point harnesses.This run beats our previous 2006 Motor Trend Shoot out run with a 2005 Corvette Twin Turbo that ran 211 MPH in the standing mile.The last time a LPE Corvette went 226 MPH was back in March 2000 where we took a 1999 Corvette 650 HP Twin Turbo on the 7.5 mile long high bank oval track in Ohio. This car with John Lingenfelter driving was going more than 200 MPH coming out of the number four turn then the car hit 226 MPH before letting up for the next turn.Note: The runway was very dusty & still had ice removal residue left on it that can be seen kicking up behind the car.CLICK HERE Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Not to hijack but I just read a blurb on the SRT forum about both of the stock 2008 Vipers, coupe and 'vert, will hit over 200 mph. And the 'vert will hit 197 with the top down! 2008 Viper exceeds 200 mph during track testIt's simple math. Add 600 horsepower to the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe and Convertible in order to go greater than or faster than 200 miles per hour. That's just what an '08 Viper Coupe and Convertible did during recent testing at the 7.5 mile long oval at the Transportation Research Center in East Liberty, Ohio. Powered by Viper V-10 engines that now generate 600 horsepower, both super sports cars broke the barrier by averaging more than 200 mph. "The Coupe and Convertible have similar drag numbers, so we are not surprised they ran almost identical top speeds," Jeff Reece of SRT Vehicle Development, said. What surprised everyone was the Convertible going 197 mph with the top down. Driver Erich Heuschele of SRT Vehicle Dynamics described that particular test as "Breezy.""Breezy"???
