This is part of the anti-lock braking system. There are basically two pieces to the system, the electronic controller that has no brake fluid in it and the piece with the brake lines going in that does have brake fluid in it. This is the piece with the brake fluid in it, the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve or BPMV. The box has been opened but the part has never been installed.
