Nice, but not enough to get me to trade.

Wonder how all those that paid $700 for onstar feeling know it'll be included now. I'll be anxious to see the new colors on an actual car.

Nice, but they totally kill it with the 2.73 gearing. They probably did it for gas mileage and top end speed. How often are you going to go 190mph? I don't like the ON STAR being standard now. I never want it in my car again. I too am anxious over the new colors. I really liked the Monteray Red.

Hey wait a minute...my 82 has 2.73s :banghead ...soon to change over to 3.42s though. I'm getting over 24mpg with the 383 now and I'm a happy camper with that, for now anyway. BTW: It looks like the same C6 to me with a few more ponies :leaving:lurk I wonder how much more that jewel will cost?

Not to shabby :thumbs

looks like a C6 to me! :toetap

and what is it with the engine naming - why an LS3? why not an LS8 or an LS9 or maybe LS10? why do they go backwards, and why do they keep reusing the old muscle car names like the LT1 and LS6?

LS1, LS6, LS7, LS3??????? what's next - LS0

LS1, LS2, LS3 = basle line gm engines.

LS6,LS7,LS8= Upgrade engines.

LS8? supercharged bluedevil?

The biggest + IMO is the interior. Looks like they may be getting wise to what people expect out of a car @ that price range. I'm tired of seeing corvette interiors in the cavalier! :lol

LS8 is probably reserved for the bluedevil, but from what I have seen on other sites, expect to pay $100+K. :eek:eek:eek

I interpreted it that only the AUTO came with 2.73 gears just like they do now.

If it happens, Depends on how hard that hair gets to pushing. It will not and I repeat be black, and what is wrong with crystal RED? :D :D :toetap

"Also new for '08 models is the availability of the 2.73 performance axle ratio with the automatic transmission. It is included with the Z51 package."

I am confused?? Are you guys saying that you think the A6 with the 2.73 performance axle is a bad thing? There appears to be some confusion on how strong the 2.56 and 2.73 gears are when mated with a 6 speed automatic.

The A6 comes standard with 2.56 gears….however that is the overall ratio since there are 6 gears and not 4. The gearing (2.56) in the A6 is much stronger in each gear compared to the old performance axle (3.15) from 2005.

The 2.73's will be even stronger than the 2.56 gears. Remember the automatic has 6 gears and you cannot just look at the overall final gear ratio.

For those that do not know much about gear ratios I have included some comparisons so that we can acknowledge the strong gearing the GM have and will continue to put into the automatic C6's.

Note the gearing for the A6 w/ 2.73 will be much stronger than the M6 w/ 3.42’s in 1st and 2nd gear.

Nice work Andre! :thumbs

All I can tell you is my C6 with 2.73's is way quicker in 1st gear than my C5 was with 3.15's and it's not just the extra 50 hp. 1st is so low it's almost unusable on the A6.

It might also be that your C5 was known for, let's say ...."involuntary" 360 degree "detours" en route to said speeds....

The 06-07 A6 Z51's did not receive a different set of gears just 2.56's. Only the M6 Z51's received different ratio's (see below). The A6 2.56 still has a more aggressive 1st gear than both M6 and M6 Z51.

I met a guy last night at the Pavilions that is a GM engineer working on the 08 vette at the proving grounds here temporarily, but he is Detroit based. We talked about the HP gains of the new motor and a few other items of interest. I asked why the Z0 is still 505HP, he said (with an evil grin) that is going to change soon but couldn’t say anything specific since GM hasn’t released that officially yet. He did say it would be impressive though…with another evil grin. So all you Z06 fans out there get your checkbooks ready for yet another Z0 badboy release. :devil

Are you sure he wasn't talking about the ZO6 SS already coming out??
