As some of you know.. I got popped 'setting the pace' for traffic on the Yuma run on 3/30....

Well its time to pay the piper.... 4 hours 7:30 to 1 at the Best Western in Mesa on 4/15

Cost to play.... $195.00.

Guess I will have to mind my right foot for the next 730 days.

I did the school abut 6 months ago.... not too bad, but mostly a waste of time. they try and make you feel nice and guilty for ever breaking the speed limit.

You know we were wondering how exactly he got you since we were coming up behind him. Well, just had lunch with two DPS guys and they said almost all of their cars now are equipped with front, rear and moving radar.

The other thing they said was 99% of the time you're going to get a ticket if you have a detector. Their point was that if you've got a detector then you must intend to speed or at minimum you know you speed all them time. In other words it was no accident that you're speeding. Just thought I'd pass that on to the group for what it's worth.

I have heard now from several people that about radar detectors... I am really thinking of taking mine out. It doesnt go off that often anyway. But I just know that as soon as I take it out I will get a ticket and wish I didnt... :(

I would have to agree with the visual of a radar detector will also mean you will most likely be receiving a ticket.

When I was pulled over in TX a couple of months back, the highway patrolman was looking at my dash and trying to locate a radar detector. So he let me go with a written warning. I know that he noticed it when I first passed him, but I had my wife pull it down when he crossed the highway to come after me. I then tossed up my blackberry that was plugged into the additional cig lighter onto the dash. He did look a little confused when he saw my phone on the dash. :eek

I was looking to get the hidden radar detector some day.

Glad you were able to get traffic school.

Phil... :devil

DId you find any that you liked?

I agree 100% with eddie that if a COP sees the radar detector, you are getting a ticket.

Glad you were able to get traffic school.

Phil... :devil

I have been looking at the Escort brands. But they are expensive. Here is the lesser of the 3 available.

He sure could see my Valentine going off and showing all kinds of red as he pulled up behind me and I just moved over and he keep going. So maybe he was thinking that all that red was nice and he would just give

Glenn the ticket. :toetap

I've heard of people that have installed radar detectors in their grill area and have never been caught with it. May be something to look at as in an alternative location for it. Who knows?

Hey Eddie.... What do you think the cop would have done if you guys would have blocked him.... giving me enough time to get away...

What do you think DPS would do if I went 80-180 in about 8 seconds...

I can tell you there was little chance he was looking at that red when he saw the good looking black go by. If he hadn't got any of us on radar he wasn't going to cite us. He probably got wood when he heard and saw Glenn go by. He had started to pull out by the time I got up to him.

If we'd have blocked him and you ran he'd have probably arrested us for hindering him and radio'd ahead to Phil's buddy in Gila Bend. There's not a whole lot of places to go between Yuma and Gila Bend.

I did get it from the "horse's mouth" that their Crown Vic's top out at 133 mph. One of the guys drives the unmarked gry one in the east valley. They were pretty cool about the whole Vette thing (of course I was expensing the lunch) :lol . They both agreed that it's rarily the guy in the expensive car that's speeding. He said it's more often the POS Toyota or VW. They agreed that they pay more attention to the VW Passat's than Vettes cause "every Passat on the road is speeding".

The Red I was talking about was all the lights going off on the detector while he was behind me. I know he could see them cause he was still shooting at that time. I think the reason he went by me and deceided to go for a black one is because RED ones are Cool. Don't you think? :toetap

Why did I know that was coming?????

I talked to the DPS officer that got you guys last year, he said we were being talked about on the radio, the DPS in Yuma was calling east to warn them we were coming.

The officer here said he figured it was us, and he decided to stay south looking for the drug runners coming up from mexico. I bet the guy that caught Glenn was listening in...

I haven't talked to the other person that got nailed that day, maybe I'll give him a call tomorrow to see how it's going for him...

I got popped in Riverside county once at 20 over. He was being nice ;)

I had set aside an entire day to do the online traffic school. 2 instances of a browser, and I was done in as many minutes. It was almost laughable. I had the whole day earmarked for it. That was a nice surprise.

Can't blaze back from Cali for 6 more months but no return trip see the guy in the black dress.

Sorry to hear about your run in. Good thing you get to 'erase' it. :thumbs
