ELESWUN
When I had my C5 I had both BFGs and Nittos. If your looking for tire life, get the Nittos. The BFGs dont quite last as long but they are a lot stickier.

I only used the wheels once and the tires have about 50% life If you want brand new ones I have also a pair of new in box wheels the same with no tires on them that I can order whichever you would likethe BFGs hook the best and ive gone 11.3@130 on them, otherwise the nittos last longer if you will be driving on the street a lot

Guest UVETTYA
Frank, I bought a set of front 17" Z06 Speedline wheels and mounted Mickey Thompson E.T. Streets (drag radials) on them and I use them just for the track. They hook pretty darn good. Steve
Grayeagle
Cool Steve .. I used 13x31 M&H slicks on my Duster for years .. they rocked. I could launch just as hard as I could and they wouldn't turn at all .. just straight up hook from *go* ..10lbs of air in 'em would do that.I borrowed a friends 10"x29" M/T ET slicks because he wanted to see if they would hook my lil Duster up .. he was gonna put 'em on his Rat powered '69 Firebird -evil grin- .. I burned 'em off like street tires thru first gear! That 8" converter I ran would lockup at 4200 rpm on a launch and that was right in the meat of the cam, if you blinked you'd miss the run thru 1st gear I loved the way that lil Duster came off the line .. straight as an arrow and so hard it felt like my teeth were bending back, eyeballs all flat an stuff -Frank (hopin I can work the Vette into the same area ..eventually)

My financial advisor (Kathy) has reeled me in for this month due to the Yuma cruise/Speedworld comin up tomorrow/rims I already put on the car/upgrading computer..and the airbox lid inbound. She tells me next month I can 'play' again .. so don't hold 'em for me.If ya still got 'em in a coupla weeks perhaps we can work a deal for just the tires .... if an offer comes up don't hold back -Frank an Kathy (she keeps me fed, I gotta listen to her

ICULUKN
The topic was "Street Legal Drag Radials'. Everyone knows that an ET Street is a slick with a grove cut in. Regardless if they are bias ply or radial they wouldnt pass a DOT test after 50 miles. The price of 18" drag radials is more expensive than 17.. Here is the pricing from Tires.comNew Tread StyleP205/50R-15 $126.00 P275/35R-18 87 BSW $217.00 P295/35R-18 91 BSW $236.00 P315/30R-18 91 BSW $283.00 Old Tread StyleP315/35R-17 93R RBL $175.00 MT has not released the ET Street radials in 18s yet. So you are really comparing apples to racecars when you are talking about the price of tires.

So you are really comparing apples to racecars when you are talking about the price of tires.Ahh, I understand kemosabe. Not to disagree, but aren't BFG's just a slick with a groove cut in them too? I wasn't comparing tire prices so much as the price difference between what Tom and I paid for the same tire. Tom got E.T. Streets too but paid a bit more for them then I did. He may have gotten 18's too and that may be why they're more pricey. I've heard the sidewall on the MT's have a bit more give to them and are easier on your drive line yet give you just as good 60 ft times, so I went with 17's to try and get my 60 ft times down a bit too. What's your preference for size and tire and why?
ICULUKN
It truely depends on what you are doing. 95% of my driving is done on the street. BFGDrag radials give me a better tread life. BTW, only the 315x18 DR has the bald patch in the center. All other sizes look more like the BFG KDW2 (still cool IMO). Now for racing, there are 2 schools of thought here.1st is that the 295x17 only has a 10" contact patch and does have a higher sidewall, which would allow for more flex. I am not sure if I agree that it is easier on the driveline, as the 295s really do not flex all that much (as they are still radials). The next school of thought is that the BFG 315 has a 12" contact patch, but skinner sidewall. They do not wrinkle at all, but do offer a larger contact patch, than the MT ET Streets. From my experience, I have cut better 60' times with BFG Drag radials than with ET Streets. My best 60' at the SECC day was 1.80 while my best 60' while on BFG DR's was 1.68. Previously I ran bias ply ET Streets and was able to cut a 1.54 60'. I think the bias ply are ALOT more forgiving on the sidewall than its radial counterpart.Just my .
Guest UVETTYA
Thanks for your thoughts Glenn. I've run both - 18" BFG's and they got me a 1.79 60 ft with a 4500 rpm launch, and 1.84 so far with E.T. Streets and a 5K rpm launch. But the track prep was really good when I got the 1.79 and kinda crappy when I got the 1.84 so we'll see what the future brings.
