Bigfoot
We are at the end of our first 5 years in the house and our original termite protection is ending. Sexton was kind enough to remind us and offer continuing coverage. He said he gave me a "military" discount, but it's still $550 for 2 years and $165 a year after that.Guess that's one of the prices of owning. With AZ's notorious rap for termites I figure it's better safe than sorry, but now my wheels may have to wait a bit.
Desertdawg
You don't need it....I had termites one time, learned that all you have to do is NOT have any wood around the foundation. no fences, garden boarders, posts, decorations.... etc...We installed some garden posts within a foot of the foundation, and the termites showed up, we removed the posts, and the termites went away. completely.......Apparently they need to be able to get outside, and the posts allowed them to tunnel from the foundation to the posts, where they got the moisture and air they needed...Of course YMMV! Bigfoot
We don't have any of that stuff near our foundation. We do have a couple of termite "tunnels" running up the side of the "stem wall" (the stem wall IS the foundation where it rises out of the soil)...and the only thing near any of them is dirt and rock. My old neighborhood in Mesa was BAD, but the new area - nada (near the house anyhow). Anyhow, the tunnels mean bad news. There are some sprays you can get at Home Depot, et al that are not so bad and if you keep the tunnels away and spray like mad, you might get away with no warranty. BTW, I'd probably let the current company know that you have those tunnels and ask them to spray now.Good luck!M~

Togo
sexton is who did mine too i think. i had them out 3 or 4 times before that first 5 year warranty expired - when they came out the last time, they drilled holes in all my concrete in the garage and sidewalk and back patio - do NOT do this if you have a post tension slab! and they "dirlled" the dirt all the way around the house every 6 inches and used that termidor stuff - i had tubes in the garage up the foundation walls - and on the outside - that's ONE nice thing about living in an apartment - no termite bills! ;) however, i had them in the garage when i had a garage at the apartment - never told anyone cuz i didn't care! then at my storage unit, i had tubes up the brick walls and into my carboard boxes and old paperwork and keepsakes! i think my termidor treatment cost me $550 - i think that's the going rate! $550 for warrantied protection against termites is well worth the wait you'll experience on those wheels that i can assure you! Bigfoot
Yeah, I know about not drilling a post tension slab...as do they. The big price is coming from them doing a complete treatment on the house. They are going to trench about 6 inches ALL the way around the house and put termidor (sp?) in. He said they have to put 4 gallons of stuff in for each 10 linear feet. They will also come inside and treat all the plumbing that comes up through the foundation from the access points. Any time in the next 2 years if something comes up they will come out and treat again...no charge. The $165 a year after this fisrt 2 is to continue that service. Donbecker
What's the guarantee on that stuff? What is the warranty? Just a thought.
Bigfoot
What's the guarantee on that stuff? What is the warranty? Just a thought.I did not read through everything completely yet. But they will come out any time I notice anything and re-treat as necessary at no additional charge...I'll read up on the literature they left me and let you know what else is covered.
