Own An American Legend - 1978 Silver Anniversary L-82 Corvette

Originally assembled on August 16, 1978, this 1978 L-82 Silver Anniversary Corvette has been meticulously restored with both OEM parts and an added mix of modern day technology and performance features.   GM produced 47,000 Corvettes in the 1978 (25th anniversary) model year. Out of the 47,000 produced, only 12,739 were produced with the L-82 package, and only 3,385 came with the close ratio 4 speed transmission. This vehicle was originally equipped with the 4 speed transmission, but given my wife had difficulties depressing the high performance clutch, the transmission was changed to a new TH400 3 speed automatic (which was an optional transmission in 1978).

This car was originally purchased with less than 5000 miles, and has been a treasured part of the family ever since.   Due to an active business career, which involved frequent travel and relocation, the vehicle was gently driven and only accumulated 27,710 miles to date.  As a result of considerable garage-storage time, it was decided to restore the vehicle to once again enjoy the ‘thrill of the ride’.  This ‘labor of love’ took more than 3 years and as you can see for yourself on the presentation website - corvette78.com it’s now just as eye catching as when it rolled off the showroom floor.

It’s important to note, that the original stamped engine remained as part of the restoration, but was professionally rebuilt by a highly acclaimed performance engine builder, Phoenix Engines.  As part of the ‘balance and blueprinting’ process, the engine now boasts an impressive 321 HP vs the original 220.  Following the build, the engine was processed using the ‘fast track’ computer to help super-tune the engine as if it were sitting in the vehicle.   If you would like to see and hear the engine during the post build break-in and tuning cycle, here’s a link to view the specs and a short video presentation of the engine startup and testing after the rebuild;  Super Tune Engine Video.

Since the rebuild was complete, the vehicle has less than 100 miles.  Our decision to part with this treasured vehicle has been very difficult.   This is not a desperation sale.   My wife was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and therefore we feel it’s time to have someone else share in the joy of owning and driving a piece of ‘American” automobile history.

Asking price:   $24,950.     See:     corvette78.com.
