Dave64
My first ride was a white 1962 Corvair Monza (like this) with red intrerior, complete with 2-speed auto, which one shifted with a lever on the dash. I paid $20 for the beast, towed it home, spent a weekend patching rust holes, then another week getting it to run. As a point of interest, I bought the car from Ms. Bessy Octucher, aunt of Jack Ostrander, from Pontiac, MI, and was a big name in IHRA, NHRA & NDBA racing. He spent a lot of time on our lake, running around in a big-motored hydroplane speed boat when I was a kid. Our first Corvette is the 1964 (joined our family in February 1985) convertible we drive now.

As opposed to some of us (ahem) who still wallow in regret over previous Corvettes let go. . .
