scottcolbath
Since I'm Vette-less for now, I may as well talk about booze. And some other odds and ends. What is in your cabinet? S.C.
Chameleon
No whiskey here. . .although I occasionally use Jack Daniel's as a cooking/baking ingredient. Okay, where are the other ACE boozers????

But it's really grown on me. And I love both the regular Woodford and the double oak. They are all good with a nice, sharp, aged cheddar (no junk cheese). The Double Oak is absolutely fantastic with the cheese. If you've never tried it, pick up some Coastal cheddar at Costco. Good stuff for the money. Anything aged two years or more will be pretty good. S.C.
Extender32
I have some good ole fashioned Jim Beam in stock but I do like the Makers Mark too.
Desertdawg
What sucks is spending $$$ on a bottle of something on a recommendation and not really liking it. Maybe an ACE bourbon tasting event. Of course the drive home would make for good forum fodder the next day.

Yuck. 40 minutes ago, Desertdawg said: Maybe an ACE bourbon tasting event. Desertdawg
I’d do it at my house but then I wouldn’t have to drive home. Who knows how much I sample then. I say say let’s do it at Ron’s house. He has 4 times as much as anyone else.

The "Honey" is actually a bourbon, otherwise "Jack" the Tennessee whiskey does the job. There is probably bourbon under the counter, anyway along with Beefeaters! scottcolbath
Who makes that honey stuff? And is it any good? When I used to shoot the C level TV show Fireball Run, one of the contestants used to show up every year with bourbon, and maple syrup. He would put a little maple in a shot glass, then a bit of bourbon. It was interesting. I'd try it that way with bourbon, before buying an entire bottle of the stuff. S.C. scottcolbath
Oh, and enjoying some Woodford right now, while I binge on Anthony Bourdain news. Shit, that stung. I don't give a flying fuck about celebs, but I connected with that guy. I've read a few of his books. Kitchen Confidential literally captured the kitchens I worked in as a kid. The pirate ship crew, all the shenanigans, etc. All that shit happened to me, or I saw it happen. Crazy shit. Kitchens in the 70s were insane. I loved it. S.C. scottcolbath
Picked up a new one today. It's OK. Not worth the $50 I dropped on it. No better than other, cheaper bourbons. I'd put it in about the same class as Maker's Mark.

They actually sell some maple syrup (from Indiana) that is stored in bourbon barrels to let it acquire some "taste". Pretty darn good actually.
