2015 Dart Parking Sensors Turned Off

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone out there can do me a solid and turn my park sensors back on for me on my 2015 Dodge Dart GT? Long story short, the rear sensors were disconnected and I believe the car was started with out them and it locked them out when it didn't see them after the cars self testing was done. I'm getting the Service Park Sensors and Park Assist Disabled messages now. I can get into the screen to turn them back on but it won't let me as they are permanently locked out for some reason. My odometer is also blinking but I'm pretty sure it's related. If anyone can help me get into the BCM and turn them back on I would appeciate it. I have an appointment at the dealer Saturday morning but if I can get it taken care of before then I will.

Not sure if this will help....found it on dodge forum.  Maybe model specific.  See if it works for you.

Enable/Disable ParkSense

ParkSense can be enabled and disabled with a switch
located in the switch bank of the instrument panel or
through the Customer-Programmable Features section of
the EVIC. The available choices are: OFF, Sound Only, or
Sound and Display. Refer to “Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC)/Personal Settings (Customer-
Programmable Features (SETUP)” in “Understanding
Your Instrument Panel” for further information.
When the switch is pressed to disable the system, the
instrument cluster will display the “PARK ASSIST DISABLED”
message for approximately five seconds. Refer
to “Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)” in
“Understanding Your Instrument Panel” for further information.
When the shift lever is moved to REVERSE
and the system is disabled, the EVIC will display the
“PARK ASSIST DISABLED” message for as long as the
vehicle is in REVERSE.
The switch LED will be ON when ParkSense is disabled
or defective. The switch LED will be OFF when Park-
Sense is enabled.

Service ParkSense

When the ParkSense Rear Park Assist system is malfunctioning,
the instrument cluster will actuate a single
chime, once per ignition cycle, and it will display the
“CLEAN PARK ASSIST SENSORS” message. Refer to
“Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)” in “Understanding
Your Instrument Panel” for further information.
When the shift lever is moved to REVERSE and the
system has detected a faulted condition, the EVIC will
display the “CLEAN PARK ASSIST SENSORS” message
for as long as the vehicle is in REVERSE. Under this
condition ParkSense will not operate.
If “CLEAN PARK ASSIST SENSORS” appears in the
Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) after making
sure the rear bumper is clean and free of snow, ice,
mud, or other debris, see your authorized dealer.
Cleaning ParkSense
Clean the ParkSense sensors with water, car wash soap
and a soft cloth. Do not use rough or hard cloths. Do not
scratch or poke the sensors. Otherwise, you could damage
the sensors.
ParkSense System Usage and Precautions
NOTE:
• Ensure that the rear bumper is free of dirt and debris
to keep the ParkSense Rear Park Assist system operating
properly.
• Jackhammers, large trucks, and other vibrations could
affect the performance of the ParkSense Rear Park
Assist system.
• When you turn ParkSense off, the instrument cluster
will display “PARK ASSIST DISABLED.” Furthermore,
once you turn ParkSense off, it remains off
until you turn it on again, even if you cycle the ignition
key.
• When you move the shift lever to the REVERSE
position and ParkSense is turned off, the instrument
cluster will display “PARK ASSIST DISABLED” message
for as long as the vehicle is in reverse.
• ParkSense, when on, will MUTE the radio when it is
sounding a tone.
• If a ParkSense system malfunction occurs, a single
chime will sound once per ignition cycle. In addition,
the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) will
display “CLEAN PARK ASSIST SENSORS” and the
LED in the ParkSense switch will illuminate. If this
message continues to appear in the Electronic Vehicle
Information Center (EVIC) after making sure the rear
bumper is clean and free of snow, ice, mud, or other
debris, see your authorized dealer.
• Clean the ParkSense sensors regularly, taking care
not to scratch or damage them. The sensors must not
be covered with ice, snow, slush, mud, dirt, or debris.
Failure to do so can result in the system not working
properly. The ParkSense system might not detect an
obstacle behind the bumper, or it could provide a false
indication that an obstacle is behind the bumper.
• Objects must not be within 12 in (30 cm) from the rear
bumper while driving the vehicle. Failure to do so can
result in the system misinterpreting a close object as a
sensor problem, causing the “CLEAN PARK ASSIST
SENSORS” message to be displayed in the instrument
cluster.

Thanks for that read. I will go make sure I don't have that switch. From what I could tell everything is through the EVIC display and has no switch that can be physically turned on or off. But I'll check to make sure I didn't miss something.
