I know shops are only as good as the newest employee, so maybe it only happened once and to you... if we don't know I will have go so far as to least mention that it happened to you before I turn my car over to any shop in the AZ market. dale68z Posted January 22, 2016 Share Posted January 22, 2016 Your lifter snap ring most likely broke from having no lifter preload. The pushrod cup comes up and wacks the snap ring, breaking it, or knocking it out of it's groove. The loss of preload will also be a source of the original noise complaint. FNBADAZ06 Posted April 21, 2016 Author Share Posted April 21, 2016 Car goes to CPR on May 11th to pull the motor, then the short block goes to WFO for the rebuild. Hopefully she will be back on the road sometime in June, if all goes well. Different cam and intake, plus the E85 capable fuel pump....should be interesting what the outcome will be.
