V I have a engine hoist you can borrow, and I'm pretty close by.

If you wanted to drag it over here I can assist in dropping it out the bottom(rack is open right now)

I'm off for the next 2.5 weeks though my schedule is already booked with getting my sandrail together as well as home repairs.

If I can help wrench for a couple of hours let me know

Phil

Dang, Phil.....thanks for the offer. I may just take you up on that, as dropping the cradle definetly sounds like a better option.

I would like to know as well, as I have to do my heads at the end of the year and want a few other goodies and still need to pick a shop.  I know shops are only as good as the newest employee, so maybe it only happened once and to you... if we don't know I will have go so far as to least mention that it happened to you before I turn my car over to any shop in the AZ market.  Thanks in advance - new to the forum and don't know if there is a PM function -

Watching this with some interest as my Z is at Cordes right now with some similar issues.  And hoping it gets solved in the next week or so...

Your lifter snap ring most likely broke from having no lifter preload. The pushrod cup comes up and wacks the snap ring, breaking it, or knocking it out of it's groove. The loss of preload  will also be a source of the original noise complaint.

I did nothing on the car during the holidays, as I was traveling quite a bit. Now that football is coming to a close, it's time for me go yank the shortblock and get things rolling :)

Car goes to CPR on May 11th to pull the motor, then the short block goes to WFO for the rebuild. Hopefully she will be back on the road sometime in June, if all goes well.

Different cam and intake, plus the E85 capable fuel pump....should be interesting what the outcome will be. :)
