Favorite Phx area (hole in the wall) restaurants

All we ever seem to talk about here is our Vettes and associated topics. I thought I'd start something a little different. What is your favorite, little know restaurant in the Phoenix metro area? I'm not talking Chilli's, Macayo's, or any of the other "chain" places. I mean the little mom and pop place that has great food.

I'll start with a couple of mine.

Knockneed Lobster at 32nd St and Washington (they also have another e. valley location). Great fastfood type fish. Don't go for the atmosphere just great fish.

Cubs Park at 40th St and Bell Rd. Great Chicago style hotdogs, fries, etc. Again no atmosphere (mostly Cubs stuff).

Let's hear your favorite hole in the wall eating place!

If you like Chinese food for a very good price. It is located at 48th Street and Southern, in the SW Shopping Mall. The name I believe is "Chinese Restaurant".

You better bring cash because they do not take checks or cards. Thats how small and hole in the wall this place is.

Eddie, you might want to try for lunch someday when at work. Lunch specials are under $3.00. You can't beat that.

:D

Flo's Chinese Cuisine

Like P.F. Changs, but better food (if you can believe it), and less expensive. There can be a wait to be seated, but NOTHING like P.F. Changs. Oh yea, and HOT North Scottsdale waitresses & hostesses. You'll think you've walked into a modeling agency. Flo also has another restaurant in trendy North Scottsdale:

Flo's Asian Kitchen

Address:   16495 N Scottsdale Rd # 5b-2, Scottsdale, AZ 85254

Phone: (480) 609-9888

I've never been to this one. Different menu. Here's Flo's Web site:

Mrs White's Golden Rule Cafe

808 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85034

This place is legendary. Real good authentic soul food.

Rosita's Fine Mexican Food

My favorite Mexican food. There is a second location at:

2023 W Guadalupe Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202

Harlow's Cafe

1021 W University Dr, Tempe, AZ 85281

Phone: (480) 829-9444

If you've lived in Tempe, you know this place near ASU. Only open for breakfast & lunch. Closed by 2 PM. Real good!

Rock Springs Cafe

34900 S Old Black Canyon Hwy, Black Canyon City, AZ 85324

Phone: (623) 374-5794

Heading North up I17? Here's the place to stop and eat. Remember, here it's the pie you want! Special Agent Dale Cooper could not find a damn finer slice of pie outside of Twin Peaks, Washington!

Damn... I'm hungry!

Never tried Romes or Flo's but  to the rest. Remind me to tell you the story about Mrs. Whites son's demise. Don't want to do it here or it would spoil the appetite you just worked up. This is what I mean by out of the way restuarants folks!

Sorry! Gotta go I'm hungry for pie now! :howdy:

PS - Just remembered Honey Bears BBQ at 50th St & Van Buren

Since we are wondering out of Phx with some of the places I thought I would throw one out there.

In Skull Valley, there is a little cafe, can't miss it. Wonderful food!!!

Thought of another favorite! Went to Pete's Fish and Chips. There are 5 or 6 locations around the Valley.

Can't beat $3.75 for a Monsterburger w/cheese, fries and a 32oz Pepsi!
