Battery Relocation; thank-you Parker

Some of you may recall my GS fan / overheating thread where Parker diagnosed and fixed corroded wires near the battery. Time to get proactive I said to myself. Yesterday, I brought cable, connectors, a lightweight Braille battery and a mounting kit to Parker (he was kind enough to spec the needed parts). The end result is a battery mounted in the rear passenger side cubby and it looks sweet. Less battery draw with bigger cable, heavy battery upfront in the heat is gone. I am a happy camper. Thank-you Parker !!

Next item will be a cooling setup worthy of an Arizona summer. :-)

Hopefully you won't have a problem changing out the battery in the future. I had to change mine last month and it was a real pain because there wasn't enough room to pull the battery and maneuver the positive cable at the same time.

If it's anything like my briale battery it's about the size of a standard motorcycle battery and you could pick it up with one hand.

It's nice to want things :)

Seriously, one day, just not in the near future, too much other stuff going on.

I saw it out of the garage in the sunlight recently.

Does this count as a mod for car shows? Be careful, a couple more smart ideas like this and you'll be out of the stock class.

^^^^^^^ what he said. I just pulled mine out Monday night and it was the worst battery job I've ever done. Seriously, it was like a Jay post. I was under the car trying to get slack out of positive cable (don't try that, I don't think it's possible), tried bending it every which way, ended up removing door, carpet, and frame to get it out. That frickin' positive cable blocks it by such a small amount but is just enough to make you drop battery several times. Hope I didn't wreck anything. Going to put the new one I picked up today back in. Hopefully it goes in easier than it came out. New one has a handle built in.

A Jay post, LOL

Absolutely awesome, ha ha ha :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

The battery I installed is dimensionally smaller, making installation/removal much easier

Does that smaller battery work just as well as the regular size batteries? CCA etc.....

They work very well, 45 minutes of reserve capacity and a 5 second hot crank amperage (PCA) of 1191 amps Max.

Braille does not rate batteries in CCA, but I would guesstimate the CCA in the 550 range based on the PCA.

Just pop the carpet up and run a nylon strap under the battery if it doesn't have a handle built in. Replacing rear batteries, even full size ones is cake once you know the tricks.
