Thread title had me thinking of something else entirely.

Any links or details on the event?

No and I suggest no one goes or supports this.

I asked about rules/tech/etc and got told to fuck off, just send them money and trust them to run a good event. The other airport events are already hard to park, without a car show, car audio show, etc. Not to mention the illegal street racing they are trying to do at the same event.

I was thinking of going just for the tuna sandwich eating contest in the hot Gila Bend sun.

I dunno. It kinda looks like that tall dude on the right is sporting something a bit bigger.

Okay here's what I've learned.

This is not the same organizer as the no-fly zone events.

They expected over 8000 in attendance the MCSO closed the gates early due to overcrowding, they actually filled the airport up. Peoole were parking everywhere. Lined up both sides of the Maricopa Road (dead cow road) and they had state route 85 jampacked for half a mile in each direction.

People were parked 3 miles away walking to the gate.

The racing they were trying to do ended up getting shut down after the first hour due to four or five oil spills on the strip. I didn't hear about any illegal street racing being promoted.

I'm so glad I left town for the day. :lol

That is not even 1/2 of it.

Timing equipment didn't work.

1-3 hours to get in, if you got in at all.

One lane racing most of the day.

Firearm pulled and threatened on a car full of people.

Lack of trash cans, facilities, etc. Trash everywhere.

Pretty much exactly as I predicted. Sadly the 3 kids that put this on made a killing selling tickets. They had 300+ race spots and 8000+ tickets sold. That is $100k+. Hopefully the city/sheriff/etc does not allow them to this again.

NFZ limits it to 100-110 cars and even then parking was rough.

Remember, NFZ limited it to 100 cars for racing but then anybody can drive-in at 10 bucks a person to watch.

Plus add in all the vendors.

NFZ doesn't advertize as a spectator event, sell 8k+ tickets, have a car show, vendors, car audio show, raffle, etc etc.

Tony said he has a good relationship with them and it shouldn't effect any future NFZ events. Worst case may put a hard cap on people let into the airport so it may limit spectators.
