SLAMMER
This will open a can of worms! As I see it there's two brands Each has a couple unique features yet no one has all these features. so you're be fine with either the Escort or valentine units. I have a Valentine Donna has a Escort They both work fine but they are NO guarantees you're not going to get a ticket. It will just let you know to pull over ahead to get your ticket. ITS A TOOL!! Use it correctly and wisely and it will help you avoid a ticket more often than not. I have had one in my Vette for 8 years now. SLAMMER
P51tj
I have had one in my Vette for 8 years now. SLAMMER And how many tickets?
Extender32
I have had one in my Vette for 8 years now. SLAMMER And how many tickets? He is a recent driving school honor graduate so about 20-30 tickets at least. He's on a first-name basis with the instructor staff.
Dvl4evr
So long as you let peeps like Tim/Slammer got first, you don't need a detector. Let him take all the heat & then skate on by.
Chameleon
Last time the officers were laughing so hard at his license plate ring they let him go.
Bigfoot
I have the Passport 9500i. The 9500ix is the newest. Mine has "saved" me a number of times.
Desertdawg
I'm a passport fan too, but I have an antique stealth model. Still works most of the time and has saved me a few times too.
Eddie44
I am retired LE and fully understand why someone would have a detector. That said, I know a number of DPS Officers and every one of them says if they stop you and you have a detector you will get a ticket, no breaks. They feel that by having that detector you leave home with intent to violate the law. Granted it will save your butt once in a while.
PALADIN
So long as you let peeps like Tim/Slammer got first, you don't need a detector. Let him take all the heat & then skate on by. We're not always with a group, sometimes J-9 & I will jump in the R Harley and take off for a few days or hours. We Don't run more than 10-20 miles over the limit. We reserve the real speed for when we have DAWG for bear bait. LOL
az57chevy
Escort is good but their database is out of date. I suspect they add but never delete locations as the old state camera's still get me a warning for the area.

Desertdawg
if they stop you and you have a detector you will get a ticket, no breaks. That's why I like my stealth model. It's not visible unless you know what your looking for. We reserve the real speed for when we have DAWG for bear bait. I wasn't the only one up there running over double ..... Wharf Rat
I have both a V1 and a Passport 8500. The V1 is by far my favorite. When the desert finally rots the Passport I will replace it with a V1.
HOXXOH
I've been using the LL unit for nearly 4 years and it's worked extremely well so far, The previous OSTL one went in the trash after it cost $700 in less than 3 years. Fortunately, not all places report violations to AZ.

ZZZ0006
I owned a radar detector once a long time ago, the false alarms drove me nuts so I ditched it. I have not had a ticket in 23 years, I live by the 5 over rule and it has treated me well. If I want to open up a car, I choose where to carefully like out in the middle of nowhere where I can see a mile or two with no cars on the road. NoFlyZone in Gila Bend seems to be the best option for really having fun without a ticket.
