Thank you PhilZ....

Just want to post up a huge thank you to Phil in the most public way I can think of. Phil took me on board his truck, taught me to drive truck and all the ins and outs of the industry, and was overwhelmingly helpful and giving all through the process of Julie and I starting our own trucking company. Thank you Phil for being an awesome friend and mentor. Words can't express how thankful we are to you. I only hope that I could return even a fraction of the friendship and selflessness that you offered to us. Phil is good. Hugs brother.

As it turns out, we didn't make the company work, but that has zero to do with Phil. We got started on the wrong foot, and were somewhat doomed from the start as our reserve capital got wasted in the first month as we couldn't run after we first bought the truck. Without any reserve capital, we were constantly behind the 8 ball, living and trying to exist paycheck to paycheck, and it finally just caught up to us. We tried, just couldn't get past the initial down slide.

Moving on...

Sorry to hear this didn't work out for you. It is really hard to compete against the giants like Swift or Knight just to name a few. Are you thinking of heading back to Arizona?

Oh yeah, Phil is a good guy.

Sold the semi. That truck payment or the ram? Still have the ram, still trying to sell it. Maybe with this new job I just picked up I can afford to keep it until it sells vs the repo man giving me a visit.

Sorry to hear this Chris but at least you tried! My biggest problem when I was self employed was the nut-case I had to answer to, me!

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do. You'll be just fine. :boobies:

I give Chris big credit for learning as quick he did, and taking the big jump into buying his own truck and trailer so quick. Very unfortunate that it did not work out and handled his situation to the best of his ability. Best of luck to you Chris.

And thanks to everyone else for the kind words.

Sorry to hear this Chris and I know you gave it a good go. I hope all goes well for you and Julie in your future endeavor. Are you planning on staying in the east coast area? Let us know how things go.

Ya. We're staying in SC. this is where Julie's daughter is. I also happen to love it here. Always hated the desert.

I have a job with another trucking company, local routes, that I will be starting at as soon as my pee test results come back in. All will be well. We gave it a go, and only barely missed the mark. The company was making enough money to sustain just fine, but the owners had too many bills, and spent too much time apart to be happy.

Is what it is. We'll just keep moving forward in life, together. Can't ask for much more...
