JacksAO
Anyone here that had Cox for internet, tv and phone drop them and went with someone else? If so could you please pass on what you've learned.
Ted Y
I got a deal for 24 months through Century Link Prism after my Cox bill surpassed $200 per month. I got more channels for $40 less per month and the TV is much faster, but the internet is slower.
Unreal
Sucks that there isn't good choices. I had century link in Utah, and it was great. Got 50mb/sec fiber and it was $45 a month. Moved here and went to transfer service, and they wanted $130 for 25mb. Told them to screw off, just wanted same deal I had there. They wouldn't so went to cox. The Century Link people were so rude and shitty about it, I would never go back. Then again all cable/internet service providers have bad service. In general Century link is the only other option, and will be slower for internet. Can't say much on TV as I don't watch TV and only have the base package for HGTV for my wife. old yeller
We did a little over a year ago. Cox kept raising their price and the service never changed. The only calls we got on the house phone were telemarketers. We are using our cell phones for all of our phone service. Direct TV for our tv and Centurylink for cable. Direct TV works good. We just have had a few times during the day where the picture was scrambled. Centurlink loads a little slower than Cox but works good for what we need it for. After the first year when the promotions run out, you end up paying a little less than Cox. We have a year left on our contracts then we will shop around and see what each carrier has to offer. Might even go back to Cox Communications if the price is right.
Shifty
I also went from (it takes a) Century (to) Link, since they were teh suck, and went to Cox.

Sleezy E
I'm in the same boat. I've had cox for going on 10 years now and you can't beat the internet service. Cable goes out once every other year tops, but this damn $180/mth bill...
Big Tom
We went from Cox to C/L Prism. Installation gave us a broken Circuit Breaker Box. Took 4 Months to get paid for the repair. Folks from out of the country have a hard time calling us now and have to dial extra digits. Looked like we would save some $ by changing over but that was eaten up by the two extra wireless boxes We have to rent because the TV's that used to get basic cable from the coax no longer got a signal.Download speed is now 20 MBPS but it never changes. Cox would go as high as 30 MBPS but an hour later would drop off. As soon as the trial is over we will be searching for something else.
Chameleon
I have Cox internet for high-speed dependable service because I work from home. I don't have any TV service at all. Nothing on I want to watch.
ChadC
as a professional this is the best analogy I can give between Cox, Century link, XO communications, and Integra.

Unreal
These high bills must be a lot of extra. My Cox internet and cable has and always has been $94 a month since I moved here.
JacksAO
Sounds like there isn't much difference among them. Was hoping to find something a bit lower. Unreal, if you don't mind what is your package with Cox? I'm currently with Cox @ 148 month.
LastC3
Was never so glad to call up Cox and cancel their service .... We went to D-TV and got the channels we wanted & NFL for $40mo. Increased our data on AT&T to 15g and use our hot spots. The new plan saved us about $40 on our phones .... Will likely use free internet at parks when available except for banking, cc's etc. Only thing we'll loose on the road will be local channels .... but can likely pick those up with the antenna if needed .. we don't do much local Big savings for us dropping Cox ........ Bigfoot
laugh it up bob, but that is what I do for a living. So you hate them all. What's the solution? I switched away from Cox years ago to Centurylink/DirecTV. I've been contemplating another switch, whether that's to Prism TV or back to Cox is the dilemma. Our DirecTV has gone up over the years and our bills are back to where they used to be under Cox. And Centurylink Internet is pretty slow.
MOTV8
We have a landline, a dedicated fax line, cable tv and internet thru Cox. I would be ashamed to admit what we pay for it, but for two home offices and working over a VPN the cable internet is a must have. Does anyone use Roku or Chromecast? Unreal
Have a chromecast. Love it, works great. Bought one for my mom and brother too. Then again I just use it to stream you tube or Netflix to my non-smart TVs.

ChadC
laugh it up bob, but that is what I do for a living. So you hate them all. What's the solution? -speed -reliability -cheap Pick 2 oh you want TV? prepare to get boned. there is a steady drop of subscribers (around 18% per year) and the cable TV companies have a minimum $$ they need to collect to cover their nut (overhead, and set royalties to the channels). so guess who pays? yup.. you the TV rates are only going to increase. a ok read http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2478213,00.asp

Desertdawg
The problem with that article is they don't even consider Dish or Direct. I'm with dish and have the hopper. I can log in with the dish anywhere app and stream both live TV as well as anything on the DVR, (2gigs of storage) And now Dish is adding apps to it, I don't need a console to go to Netflix anymore. It's streams right thru the hopper. My cost. 135 channels plus HBO and Cinemax for two rooms is $119 a month (this includes access to HBOgo and Maxgo). With the new AT&T plan for our iPhones 6+ we get hotspot included. Home Internet is still cable because Dish Internet uses the hard wire phone line to connect and here it barely gets 3Gs.
