No more scraping the driveway

For those of you that have a rolled curb driveway entrance know that you've got to pull in or back out at an angle in order to minimize the scraping. Well I was introduced to a product called Bridjit that will help eliminate the scraping. They cost $299 for a 12ft section but you can also order additional 4 ft sections too. I ordered 3 additional sections so with shipping it cost me $719.

How does the HOA like that?

I don't know yet as we just installed it this morning. My neighbors like it though.

I almost ordered those at my last house, but talked to a few people and went with a 1/2" steel plate from local metal supply place. They had 6-10' plates that were 2-3ft wide made up just for driveway ramps. Was a pain to get in place, but was $50, weighed ~300-400lbs and never moved or had anyone mess with it. I didn't get those because I was afraid they would disappear, but anyone who really needed a steel plate that bad, and would bring 5-6 guys to lift and take it, they can have it for $50.

Not sure if your street is ever swept but I know people had issues in Utah with street sweepers and snow plows.

In my neighborhood its not teh HOA (Although I know they would never approve it, but the City of Peoria will not let you put anything that alters the free drainage flow - so you are not allowed to put anything in the gutters.

I looked into one of these a few years back, and they won't impede drainage unless your next door neighbor is building an ark.

Does the water go under or over it?

I believe it does both under and over but I'd buy a big bottle of Gorilla Glue and then paint them a color similar to the concrete with concrete paint. But I am goofy too. :at wits end: Hate to see them disappear.

I wish I could do something like this for my mom's place. I visit her a couple times a week and I hate that scraping sound.

My driveway is nice and smooth at home though. :)

I've had one for years in Tempe (no HOA). Works great. There is a hollowed out tube underneath to let water flow through. Doesn't quite fit the contours of my curb but close enough!

These actually have rain channels engineered into the bottom.

Each 4ft section weighs 50lbs and are bolted together and I have 6 sections. They aren't going to be able to pick it up and take it without a lot of difficulty.

We actually had some one come in and cut the curb out and create a slope in the drive way. No more scraping here.

Hi!

My husband and I will be moving to Scottsdale next month, and this rolled driveway is freaking me out.

If you don't have a contraption of some sort in the gutter, how horrible is making it up into the driveway with a C7 at normal ride height?  Can you make it without scraping at an angle?

I am frankly worried about messing up my baby on the day we move into the house!

Since the HOA will obviously be new to us as well, I don't want to pre-order something I might not be able to use.   And since we're moving from CA, I can't just take a roll thru the development and see if anyone else has some kind of gutter guard already.

Cheers,

Suzy

Welcome to Scottsdale.  If you approach at an angle you may be okay, getting one wheel to approach at a time.  Only way to know for sure is to check it out when you get here.  Most street gutters are okay it is the actual angle of the driveway that causes the issue as the driveway meets the street.  Good luck

I tried every angle but still scraped, finally just cut a piece of 2X6 to bridge the gutter each time I go in and out. Pain in the butt? Yes but a cheap fix and easy to use..

You'll probably be able to enter the driveway at an angle but backing out will pose a problem. The scraping you'll hear is the air dam scraping the ground, not the actual car. I have an HOA and they haven't said anything to me as they are not a permanent fixture and the water will flow underneath.

I had a C5 and 3 C6 Vettes. If done carefully you shouldn't scape anything but the rubber air dam. That part is replaceable.  I drive mine daily and they'll last 3-4 yrs.

My C7 clears that type of curb easier than my C-5. You should have no trouble.
