Extender32
get you a couple of 6 volt batteries at Wal Mart and wire them in series.
Eddie44
I did the Red Top thing in my first two Vettes. Then I wised up and realized I wasn't getting more than a couple months over two years out of normal batteries. I've never had one leak in that time. So I buy the Auto Zone battery with a three year full replacement. I don't buy more than one replacement then they're free.
LastC3
Oh No ......... another "Die Hard" Optima fan ??????????
Unreal
Optima is junk IMO. Go buy autozone, orielly, or whatever is cheap available and has a good warranty. Even AC delco from dealer is a great option if they don't rape you on the price.
Guest racingchester
Kind of concerned if the battery would leak and send all that good stuff all over the electronics or what ever is under it! Bought battery 8/2/10. Made it almost 4 1/2 years!
LastC3
have been using Die Hard for years ... bought the top of the line when I got each car .... lasted almost 3 years each ... took em back for a new one FOR FREE. Haven't spent a dime since .......... tuff to beat IMO ..... add never a leaky !!!
Guest racingchester
Diehard a jell battery? Cost?
Ted Y
Modern lead acid batteries are tough and very rarely leak. You do not need an AGM type battery like Optima. They are far less reliable. I switched to an O'Reilly Super Start series 75 with a three year warrantee and never looked back.
Bigfoot
I just buy the O'Reilly gel battery. Replacement warranty is awesome.
joe@cpr.com
Sears diehard platinum is the last battery you will ever buy. Interstate has a good warranty also.
Desertdawg
My yellow top is over 4 years old, and it's doing just fine ... Of course I just jinxed it !

I switched to an O'Reilly Super Start series 75 with a three year warrantee and never looked back. This^^^^ I put in the Autozone Duralast Gold, on the 2nd one now. Take it in for testing before the full warranty expires and if it's even borderline you get a new one. It's like they paid me to put the 2nd one in, its great That being said, my other choice would've been the Sears Platinum as Joe stated but when mine crapped out I wasn't anywhere near a Sears

Not so fast
AutoZone Duralast here, let me down after being parked for about 3 weeks but charged right up. Now I put my trickle (2 amp) charge on once every 2 weeks for 6 hrs, simple and keeps her up to snuff. Wish we didn't have to do things like this but appears to be a common problem, WHY??? Drewster67
When I bought my ride it came with the optima red - and the date stamp (sticker) is 4/11. Its still going strong - when I do replace it - Ill go with a 2 yr or 3 yr free replacement battery - haven't decided on which one yet.
C4orce2
Well of course I only have a C4 but the last battery I ever paid for was a Sears Diehard, Gold. It lasted almost 3 years and when it started getting weak I simply went back and got another one for $0 even though they have to take off the side panel to replace it. I will never pay for another battery for this car again!!
