Interesting question, the Z is probably (only) about 100 lbs lighter

Which is faster....the one with the better driver. They are close enough in HP that it would fall back on how it's driven.

5.7 L vs. 6.2L

Ls3 hands down.

the c5 Z06 has closer gears ratios on 1 -4 to improve the 1/4 mile, but the added TQ of the LS3 makes it the winner in my opinion.

We can armchair quarterback this one to death, but the only way to test is to find a 1/4 mile track and lay down some rubber... the NCCC says a C5 Z06 is comparable to C6 in the revised rules for AutoX'ing. It would be a good test... best 2 out of 3 anyone?

Which car is faster in the quarter mile? a C5 Z06 405hp or a C6 LS3 436 hp?

Earl, aren't you a little old to be looking for the fastest car??? :lol

I'd bet on the LS3 with either transmission.

Top 5 results from the CF 1/4 mile performance lists

This is too close to call either one a winner.

Track and weather conditions can easily affect times in excess of a tenth, regardless of driver skills.

I did the math above and I came up with an average C5 Z06 1/4 mile =11.86 seconds and 117.97mph and the C6 LS3 1/4 mile = 11.93 and 118.59mph. The Z06 was faster in time and only .5mph slower. I believe the older 2002 C5 Z06 only had 385hp? the 03's and 04'a had 405.

In the defense of the LS3 engine you could have 430hp or 436hp.

I would have to say they are about the same in speed as far as the 1/4 test.

The 2001 model year had 385. There is essentially no difference in the '02-'04.

Bone stock is very close, but I feel the LS3 is more responsive to modding. For instance, my C5Z was bone stock and ran all day at 12.6 at 111 mph at Speedworld on a "no prep" track on street tires. Dwayne was about 0.5 seconds quicker in is LS3 car with open intake, Z06 exhaust and a tune.

Just my two cents.

But with my pet monkey driving my stock 2003 Z06 I should be able to beat those stock LS3's, lol
