post-1213-0-16467500-1377550626_thumb.jp I did these myself with my blast cabinet. Nobody will ever see these again so I had to post.

Just finished the steering column and it will go in next. Still waiting on some electrical upgrades for the lights etc. I had to order a hydro boost for the brakes. The 7 inch vacumn booster won't fit with the large valve covers. It should be here next week I hope.

You're making great progress. Adding options to a midyear can be a pain but it is a bit easier when the car is torn down to parade rest like yours. By the way, was your Coupe originally white over red? I like the current Black over Red arrangement better. On the subject of the color difference on the dash, is it a case of repro dash pads being darker than stock original colors? Mike T.

Yes it was white over red. I have a 62 that is the same color combination, the white over red. The lines of these cars are just amazing. I just have to touch it when I walk by. At least my car doesn't slap me. I hope to have the steering done this week. I added R&P to it. Should handle well. :cool

My 61 started out as White over Red but the previous owner, who bought it in '74, changed it to Black over Red pretty quickly after buying it. Power R&P or manual? Mike T.

I have to chuckle about the wiper motor, I had the body off the car and installed the wiper motor while standing in the engine bay. I tried to do all I could with everything apart. I put the dash wiring harness on the gauge cluster on my workbench and then installed the gauge cluster and wiring into the dash. Actually 40 years ago when I worked on my cars it was in the dirt, on my back, and not too pretty. I have gained wisdom with age, also i have a tough time getting back up now. Next plan is to finish the steering. I have added r&p and will be adding the u-joints and extension bar from the rack to the column. It is power steering. I have to add a hydro boost brake because a standard booster won't clear the valve covers, it should be here today. I hope to finish the electrical this weekend too.

Steering column is in.

Beautiful car - great project and then top it off with a big block, which is a 427 (THE best motor chevy ever made IMO) - WICKED combo. Can't wait to see more pics.

Brake issues. I had a caliper leak. I bought them from Amazon last December because at that time I was only going to make it stop, steer and go better. But I did pull the body off. Anyway I called Amazon and they said they would send me out a whole new set since that is the way I bought them. I decided ok I would paint them all red and replace them all. I was surprised at the customer service but they did great.

post-1213-0-50902000-1382645974_thumb.jp Got the carpet installed. It came with the car, it's ok.

Finally got the air cleaner I wanted. It is the stock 1965 396 motor one. It's black. I like it and think that is the secondary color to go with. I painted the heater hose pipe connector and the throttle return spring holder black. I am thinking maybe the SS braided hoses should be black also. I like the red interior, red spark plug wires, and red calipers. I am thinking of black wheels maybe with a red stripe.

Before I fired it up spun up the oil pump with an air drill and got 30lbs of oil pressure. Not bad for a worn out air drill. Dropped the distributor in, filled the bowls up with fuel and it made a half a turn and fired right up.

Hopefully you read this far as I have an issue. The car has a squeal like a throw out bearing. It is new along with the other clutch parts. It squeals when the clutch is out, if I just rest my foot on the pedal, it stops. I am going to dirve it around some to see if I can figure out what it is.

I am going to put the original seats in it for now but I have these C4 seats that I may try later. As you can see we have the red/black thing going here also.

I forgot who turns rotors on the car? I need the front ones turned on the car or with the hubs.

Lookin ..... Squeal may be the TO bearing .... occasionally you'll get one new that just does

We use NAPA to turn drums & rotors .... reasonable and do a good job .... and are on top of letting us know if we have a warped one ....

Happy to hear you had a successful first fire ..... :spinin:

post-1213-0-93010000-1383761687_thumb.jpThis is the halo. I have a new dome light to install.

I put in a custom auto stereo. Still putting in the front speaker. Rebuilt the clock with the quartz update but I am waiting on another clip to install it. I am thinking a couple more weeks to finish. I am going to order Ridler 695 wheels in black. 17X8 for the rear and 17X7 for the front. Haven't picked out a tire manufacturer yet. :burnout2 I think I found the next project, another 65. We'll see if I can land it. I am still looking for a 56-62 vette if anybody knows where one is. I am looking up to 30k.

Thanks for all the interst. Hopefully when I get this done I'll come along on an ACE outing and meet more of the great people in person.

Side pipe covers are back on. Stereo is in along with the switches for it and the air conditioner. Pictures to follow. New tires and rims should be in this week. Still need to install the kick panels, the clock, the grill, the bumpers, and the glove box. Now that I look at the pictures it looks like the wipers too. Should be done in 1 or 2 weeks. I am still waiting on the power antenna, hopefully this month. I need to have a 4 wheel alignment, any suggestions?
